I hear rustling of leaves and crackling from grass and dead tree branches from behind me. I get up fast but I don't see anyone,"Who goes there!!" I shout pulling out my pocket knife with hands that shake so much you'd think I had a disease. "I'll have you know my mother is the queen of meadows and if you try anything she will have your head!" A body walks out with their hands up walking slowly.
"Well I guess stealing the princess will be scratched off of my to due list" they smirk and looks at me as if I was vulnerable yet funny . "Who are you?" I ask with my guard still up not trusting them till I know their purpose. " My name is Jade, I go to the soldier camp next to the school for fairies, I just noticed that you came over here a lot after school " they look at me then my knife intensely as I start lowering my guard.
" So you've been fucking spying on me?" They chuckle and let of a sigh " Please don't flatter yourself , usually after school I'm at that pond across from here and I see you everyday so I wanted to introduce myself, and to be honest I wanted to know why you so worried about getting out the gates ...I saw someone yelling at you earlier ."
I sit back down and sigh "I just wanna see what's out there that's all" I said fantasizing what it could possibly be like . "Well I see her point, you going out there with no protection and you don't know what's out there I mean come on man" Gosh they are starting to sound annoyingly protective and it's pissing me off.
"well I sure did not come for a lecture so I'll be on my way " I get up and grab my things starting to walk away "Wait, that's not where I was going with this I promise, I honestly had a deal I wanted to make that could benefit us both. Let me be your guard , and your eyes, I know what's more out there than you do, I am trained to fight any harm that comes my way and judging on how you were holding that knife you wouldn't be able to kill me even if you tried, I know how to hunt for food and how to cook as well in the woods, if you went alone you'd probably be dead in seconds not going to lie.
" They did sound convincing but what's the deal? "If I agreed what would be the deal?" I hope it's nothing insane, " well you see my dad was a soldier too but he's a home dad now since he lost his leg in an attack and my mom's dead...ever since then my dad's been struggling and he's in debt to the queen , if I do this I want to knowing you could possibly talk to your mom about lifting the debt please I'd be forever grateful."
As Jade begged and pleaded the deal didn't sound bad at all and he was right , how would I survive when I don't know one thing about how to survive outside . "Mmmm..Deal let's head out right now, the quicker the better" I say smiling ready for any mess that comes our way .
"Hey princess not so fast, don't you think it would be better if we waited till sundown and for us to build our strength and eat before going?" I look at him with a nervous blank stare and he laughs , "yea you'd get eating alive in the first few minutes if you went alone" I roll my eyes "Well then we can go home get some sleep and in two hours meet me at wilfers dishes".
Jade looks at me for a second and smiles like a weird pedophile.. "Sounds good to me, I'll see you there" I walk home to see Claus is waiting for me at the gates , his little tale wagging back and forth seeing me from a what seems forever ago to him. "Hey buddy I missed you" I say rubbing his back walking into the castle being greeted by the workers who kisses my moms ass just to get paid little to nothing, but at least their happy..I guess I would too if I were able to work for the Queen and have my own private room in the castle, so I guess there isn't anything to complain about.
