You sat in Starbucks on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in London, drinking hot chocolate and looking at your laptop, which was the same thing you had done since Monday. You moved here about 2 months ago due to a job offer you got from a music magazine that you couldn’t turn down although you didn’t know anybody here except your boyfriend, Jordan. You were nervous about moving on your own but it was nice to get away from the same boring town you had lived in since you were born, which was only about an hour away anyway.

You started your job a month after you had moved and you couldn’t really say anything bad about it. Your colleagues were nice, you loved doing the work and the pay was good. The only thing you hated was the fact that your boss would hit on you or check you out every time you walked past, although he knew you had a boyfriend. You couldn’t do anything about it and you didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize your job so you rolled your eyes playfully and laughed it off. You didn’t think he expected anything to come of it anyway, he was your boss, you worked for him.

You had ideas coming out of your head one after the other for upcoming articles which was very rare for you so you typed them into a new word document quickly before you got distracted. You get pulled from your world of ideas when you feel your phone vibrate from your pocket.

Riley, where are you?!

‘Oh, here we go’ you mutter to yourself, rolling your eyes at the text message. Jordan was a little paranoid. If you didn’t answer his texts in 20 minutes, he’d be ringing you asking you where you were and who you were with. At first you found it cute that he was so protective over you and then it just got really fucking annoying. It was like he thought you were out chatting up different guys five minutes after you had spoken to him last (which you weren’t).

After you had texted him back telling him where you were, you sighed, drank the rest of your hot chocolate and put your laptop in your bag before getting up and walking out. As you walked, you looked down at your phone, answering various text messages from your mother and a colleague while looking up every so often to make sure you didn’t bump into anyone.

When you quickly glanced up again, someone caught your eye. It was a familiar face that you hadn’t seen since school. Your head tilted to the side a little as you looked at him, shocked to see him there in front of you. He was tall with tanned skin and dark hair which made him even more attractive than he was when you last saw him. He was with someone that was on the phone, another tall man, although not as tall as him, with pale skin and black hair, who was also very attractive. You get distracted from your phone for a moment as this person’s eye catches yours and he looks surprised almost to see you there.

He slows down a little, as do you and you both end up stopping in front of each other, making a few people sigh and tut as they walk around you. His friend, still on the phone, looks at him quizzically before telling the person on the other end of the phone that he would ring them back and then he hung up, looking at you both with confusion on his features.

‘Daniel Howell’ you speak first, smirking as you looked up at him. Wow he was tall.

‘Riley Edmunds’ he smirked back and chuckled lightly. ‘What are you doing here?’

‘Well I was about to ask you the same question’ you laugh and turn your head to the boy by the side of him, who looked a little shy. ‘I don’t believe we’ve met’ you say politely and he shakes his head.

‘Oh sorry, Phil, this is Riley, Riley, this is my friend Phil’ he explains and you smile at Phil as he smiles back at you.

‘Wait, you mean THE best friend Riley from school?’ Phil asks and you raise your eyebrow questioningly at Dan as he nods his head.

‘Yes, THE Riley’ he confirms, laughing and Phil nods and smiles at you bigger than before.

‘Hi!’ Phil says excitedly, making Dan roll his eyes playfully.  ‘I’ve heard a lot about you actually’ he laughs.

‘Oh really?’ you look at Dan and he shrugs his shoulders.

You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket, apologise and pull it out, sighing.

Jordan. Again.

To: Riley

From: Jordan

If you don’t get back to your house soon, I’m coming out and searching for you.

‘Shit’ you mutter and shove the phone back into your pocket before turning your attention back to a slightly concerned Dan and Phil.

‘I’m so sorry, I have to go but when are you both in London next?’ you ask, your head tilting to the side, as it did when you were in thought.

‘Well, we kind of live here so we’re always in London’

After getting excited and explaining that you also lived in London now, they promise that you will hang out soon which you gladly agree to.

You exchange numbers and after another text from Jordan, telling you he was deadly serious, you hurriedly hugged them both and said goodbye.

You got out your phone again and rang Jordan. It didn’t even ring twice before his deep voice answered.

‘Riley, where the hell are you?!’

‘Calm down, I’m on my way to my house’ you explain, sighing heavily.

‘Hurry up, I’m outside when you get here’ he hangs up.

You roll your eyes but you couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across your face. You couldn’t wait to hang out with Dan again, just like old times and Phil seemed like lovely guy.

But you couldn’t help wondering about what Jordan would think of you hanging out with Dan. He won’t be happy, that’s for sure.

A/N: Please tell me what you think, it would be greatly appreciated. (the other fanfiction is on hold for the moment until i can decide what to do with it next okay thank you)
