Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder?

Michael had been acting pretty distant lately. Whenever he came home, he went straight to the bedroom and didn't come out. I've made attempts to get closer to him, I even offered sex. But he turned it down.

The first time this happened, I brushed it off. But now it's starting to frighten me.

"Babe, I'm going out." Michael said.

I looked up, "Where are you going?", I asked.

He answered, "Video games and beers at Joe's."

"Okay, have fun." I walked over for a kiss goodbye, but he grabbed his coat and left.

For some reason, I didn't believe him. I pulled on some shorts and threw my hair up in a bun, and I got inside my car. Michael drove outside of the parking garage and I followed. He made a right on Main Street, and a left on Maple Drive, when I figured out that this was definitely not the way to Joe's.

He stopped at a quaint one-story house on Cedar Lane. A perky, annoying looking blonde ran outside and hugged Mike.

"What the hell?" I said as I silently climbed out of the car.

She grabbed him by the hand and pulled him inside. I slowly followed their trail. After they went inside, I check for windows so I can see what they were doing.

"Ugh, where are they?"

A light suddenly flickered on nearby, and I peered through the window.

"I missed you baby, I thought you'd never call!"

"Listen Michelle..." Michael started.

Brriiing!

My phone started to ring.

"Crap!" I whispered.

I squatted down and checked the caller ID, the screen read Ava.

"Hey Skye." greeted Ava.

"Ave, I can't talk right now. I'm doing something."

"Is it so important that you can't talk to your sister?" she retorted.

"It's about Mike. Meet me at uh... 82 Cedar Lane."

"Oh goodness," Ava said, "Okay, on my way."

I looked back into the window, and the two were enthralled in a kiss. The tears were stinging in the back of my eyes.

"Why isn't he stopping?" I thought, " Doesn't he love me?"

He pushed her hair back and looked into her bright, sultry eyes. That's when the tears started pouring down onto my cheeks. He did the same thing to me, the first time we met, the first time he got  mad at me. Did he ever really love me?

I saw Ava's car pull up but I didn't acknowledge her. I just sat there, and stared out into the night sky. I gave up everything for this kid. My education, my money, my family's respect. All of this for Michael David Carey, a cheating bastard.

"Baby, are you okay?" Ava asked.

I quietly shook my head no and pointed to the window. She looked inside and she was disgusted.

"We all told you he was trash, Skye."

"But I loved him!" I sniffled.

"I know baby, I know." she said while trying to comfort me.

"I loved him! I loved him!" I sobbed.
