A red kelpie walked through the Dog City airport, mindful to lookout for paws and tails of other dogs. He was pretty tired since the kelpie had to drive all the way from Reseil, which is a good 5 hours at the minimum. And somehow he still managed to keep his eyes somewhat open.
The kelpie lifted and placed his paws groggily, his movements sloppy due to the lack of sleep.
That very kelpie would be getting on a plane to Adventure City in exactly an hour, to meet the paw patrol.
A dream many dogs had, and his family was convinced he was even more special.
It was one thing to meet the special, but to actually get in and become a member?
Well you would be considered extraordinary! He sat on one of the chairs at the gates, a dog friendly coffee in paw.
'Gate 12 is boarding! Gate 12 is boarding!' A receptionist shouted repeatedly.
All the dogs and puppies boarding the flight stood and walked towards the little tunnel that led to the plane.
Some walked slowly, some walked quickly eager to be jammed on a giant flying bird made of metal and fiberglass for 12 hours. The kelpie walked a bit faster than earlier mostly because he just wanted to sit down and sleep the whole flight. He put his bag in the overhead compartment, sat in his designated seat, and opened up his laptop.
The Paw Patrol were nice enough to give him their city tower address and a business class ticket but otherwise he has no information on anything else.
' Maybe they'll give me an overview of everything and a tour of the tower when I arrive, hopefully.' The kelpie thought, clicking on the airplane icon then closing his laptop unsure of what he should do.Finish work or sleep.
He chose to finish work and opened his laptop back up, typing in his password then clicking onto the website Ryder, one of the members and maybe the captain of the Paw Patrol team Emailed him.
He read the article on the website until the flight attendant came with the snack tray.
' Hello sir, would you like anything?' She asked.
' Yes, can I please have some jelly planes and a Pepsi max?' He replied looking at her with sincerity
' ok that will be $7.50, cash or card?'
He pulled out his card and the flight attendant picked up the square card reader holding it so he could tap his card. The flight attendant handed him his food and drink, a smile tugging at her lips.
She turns over to the next person having the same conversation again.
A notification popped up on the kelpie's screen."Dear Rusty,
I'm Emailing you to inform you that we will be picking you up from the airport and driving you to the tower.
Regards,
Ryder"He read through quickly.
Taking in the newly found information.
He clicked back onto the website and began reading the next article about search and rescue dogs and what they do.
" The dogs who do apply have to be good at predicting what could happen to the patient,".
Rusty read that sentence again.
" The dogs who do apply have to be good at predicting what could happen to the patient, ".
He read it again and again and again, until it left a permanent mark in his brain.A memory.
Rusty went back to reading the rest of the article, he had to have some knowledge of what search and rescue dogs do.
He read and read until his eyes felt heavy and tired.
He read until sleep was almost taking over his body.
Rusty closed his laptop and laid back in his seat. Closing his eyelids.
On a journey to another world,
A world where he was the greatest search and rescue dog in the world.
A world where he could do what he wanted, when he wanted.
In this world he was another version of himself. One with purple highlights in his fur.
One with dark eyes, full of hatred for something only god knows why.
This version of him was scary.
He wanted to see his other self. Not this one.
He felt a slight bump.
The plane had landed. He was in Adventure City! He packed up his stuff and took his back from the overhead compartment.
Finally touching land,
well carpet covered cement. Rusty walked over to the bag collection and picked his suitcases out of the thousands there. Security checked him, then he was sent on his way.
Ryder and the pups met him at the parking area. Ryder had texted him earlier to tell Rusty where he was parked.
Rusty smiled at Ryder and the pups, them smiling back at him.
Ryder took his bags and put them in the bag compartment of the patroller. Rusty sat in the spare seat next to Marshall and Rubble.
They all got to know a bit about each other, like where they were from, what their favorite colour was. You know basic friend stuff. The patroller had arrived at the lookout, and to say Rusty was amazed at the sight in front of him was a major understatement. ' Woah I've only ever seen the lookouts on TV, but to see one of them is real life! I'm one lucky pup for sure!' Rusty confessed, trying to keep his excitement to a certain level.
He took his bags and practically bounded through the sliding doors. Admiring everything he walked past. He was in the Paw Patrols lookout how cool is that!
