"What!!" April said loudly and I quickly shushed her while looking around the school library. We were in study hall. "Why didn't you tell me before?" She said quieter. It had been a week since I found out I was mated to Chris AND Brent. I had avoided them both ever since (trying to steer clear of their obvious attempts to 'win' me).
"It's not that easy to just come out and tell your best friend that you're..." I looked around to make sure no one was listening "mated to two guys."
"Okay. Okay. I get it. What I don't get is how it's possible. I mean, seriously, how does that just happen?"
"I-I don't know. But it did and now I'm just trying my hardest to avoid them."
"You can't just avoid them. They're both so...HOT. How can you avoid them? One of them is a star athlete and the other is a cute nerdy boy. I swear it's gonna get like twilight up in this bitch." April had always been one to cus a lot. I didn't mind that much but sometimes it would get on my nerves.
"It's pretty easy to avoid someone if you try hard enough." And as if on Q, Chris walks in and spots me right away.
"Jean!" He calls out to me and is quickly shushed. He looks over to see who had shushed him. Here's my chance to run. I think to myself and bolt for the door. But once I walk by him, he grabs my arm. "Jean. We need to talk."
I gulp. "O-okay." I say, barely audible. He walked out of the library and motioned for me to follow. It was lunch period so we weren't really missing any classes. He walked down the hallway with his hands in his pockets. Where are are we going? I asked myself. But not asking him. I hate to say it but he is a sweet guy and smart and funny and cute and- stop it, Jean! You can't be thinking like this when you have TWO mates.
I soon found that we had walked all the way to the football field. We walk up the bleachers to the top corner of them and sit down. Everything is silent for a minute or so then he finally speaks. "Look, I know you've been avoiding Brent and I and I understand why." He paused to look at me the continued. "I just think you need to give us both a chance, me more then him cause I've known you longer." He laughed slightly, but when he noticed I didn't join in he stopped and cleared his throat.
"Look, Chris, it's not that I don't want to give you guys a chance, it's just that....this is a lot to take in, you know? I mean, getting a time quicker then others is one thing, but being mated to two people is another. Doesn't it seem strange to you that this happened? Don't you want to know why?" I looked away from him, not able to take another look otherwise I might be tempted to kiss hi-Wait! What? KISS!! I stood up quickly. "I have to go." As soon as the words came out, I was gone. Running straight home without stopping.

"Mom!?" I yelled right when I got into the house. My mother, Oona, was one of the few people that got a time really quickly also. She was 30 when she had gotten hers and her time had told that it would be 5 HOURS! She wasn't one of the poor souls that didn't make it, her and my dad, Dan, met at her and my Aunt Steph's shared birthday party. Long story short, they got married and had me.
"Jean? Shouldn't you be at school right now?" She walked in to the hallway where I stood.
"Mom I screwed up, I really did." I ran up to her and hugged her, feeling tears form in my eyes. Why was I crying? I don't thing there should be a reason why I was.
"Sweetie, what happened?" She pulled me away from the hug and wiped away my tears.
"Mom, when I got my TiMER a few weeks ago, I didn't show you my time for a reason. It gave me 3 days and I've been timed out for a couple weeks ago..."
"Oh sweetie, that's not bad. Not all people turn out like that." She smiled warmly at me.
"That's not why I'm freaking out..." I took a deep breath and said it. "When I timed out, it led me to 2 guys. The three of us all timed out at the same time. And they both felt drawn to me and I felt drawn to them...." I looked down out the ground, not sure what she would say.
She looked at me for a moment before she spoke again. "There must be a mistake in your TiMER. First thing tomorrow we'll-"
"Mom. That's not going to help. I already called the doctors office. They said I should just wait it out but I can't. How can I wait something lie this o-" Just as I was about to finish my sentence, there was a knock at the door. I walked to the door and opened it, only to be met with the two people I DON'T want to see.
"Hey Jean." Brent and Chris greeted.
Hey everyone. It's Alex here. Sorry for not updating in a while. School is almost over though so I should be updating more over summer. Thanks for all the reads and I'll see you next time.
