Well, that's fucked up.

This is a new feeling. Regret.

There was an awkward silence in the air between us. I continued driving silently not knowing what to do. I took a brief glance at her to see if she had cooled down. But her face clearly seemed like someone had snatched her last piece of pizza. I simply continued driving.

She suddenly took her bag and rummaged through it. She took out a book with an attractive blue cover, I could only decipher the words "Ends" and "Us" on its front.

Must be a really tragic story, I guess. (😭)

She placed the book in her lap with a thud which I figured was to remind me that she was still mad at me. She sunk into her seat and started reading.

I cleared my throat, 'So...who were the people you were talking to earlier?'

'My friend', she replied without taking her eyes off the book.

'And the other guy?', I pressed further in the hopes of making her talk to me somehow.

She sighed, 'Her dad'.

'Oh', I remarked thoughtfully.

'Well, you're a talkative one', I muttered to myself.

She slammed the book down on her lap and glared at me, 'What the fuck is your problem?!' She yelled.

'I'm just trying to talk to you!' I yelled back raising my shoulders defensively. 'You're the one who's being a bitch again!'

'Oh my God, you're such an ASSHOLE!' She groaned and turned towards the window again.

Either of us spoke after that. We were back at it again. There was a palpable tension in the air. Just when I was forcing myself to be a gentleman, she had to push all my buttons. Oh, how I hated her.

I drove the car as fast as I could, so I didn't have to be near her any longer. Finally, we arrived at Leo's house, before I could even properly stop the car, she opened the door and stepped out. She glared at me from outside. 'I hope a dog crosses while you're speeding, and the police find your dead remains after the final match', she hissed at me.

'Fuck you, bitch', I snapped back and sped my car away from her. She showed me her middle finger and I pushed myself out of the window to show her my finger back, which she probably didn't even notice as she stomped inside the house with her handbag swinging around.

Ugh, I hate that guy! I HATE THAT GUY! Just as I was thinking MAYBE he could've changed, he goes out and pushes my buttons. I cursed to myself and rushed to the doorway. I entered the door after knocking.

As soon as I went in,  I threw my bag on the sofa and sat myself in it. I groaned, hiding my face in my hands.

'Someone's in a good mood', a voice came from the doorway. I looked up to find Anto sipping coffee. I glared and pointed a finger at her. 'You...' I whispered menacingly. But the woman on question didn't seem fazed by it. She just sighed and said to herself, 'Should've seen this coming', and moved into the kitchen.

I got up and followed her, 'Why did you set us up?' I asked angrily after she settled herself by leaning on the counter.

'I'm sorry, Lia. I should've known he would screw it up', she admitted.

I sighed and sat myself on the counter across from her. I placed both my hands behind me and leaned back, staring at the ceiling.

'That bad, huh?' Anto asked furrowing her brows. I just gave her a look that said I'm exhausted. She understood that and cane across the counter to give me a hug. All of my worries floated off after u hugged her, you see, Anto has this power to radiate comfort wherever she is and that was currently working on me.

We broke off the hug and she asked me if I wanted coffee. I graciously accepted the offer and we both drank in silence.

I took a look around the empty house. 'Where are the boys?' I asked.

'They are out with their dad to some friend's house', she replied. I raised my eyebrows, surprised.

'Leo? Out there socialising? Damn, old age has got to him', I said as I sipped my coffee.

Anto huffed, 'I wish. He's just there because he promised Thiago a month ago', she said.

I shrugged and began drinking again. We both finished our coffee and Anto said to me, 'You must be tired, querida, go get some rest, I'll wake you up for dinner.'

I smiled thankfully at her and headed to my long forgotten room up the stairs, for a long, peaceful nap.
