BUZZ!! BUZZ!!
“Ughh . . . I don’t want to get up” I moaned as my alarm went off. I opened my eyes just a little; the sun was shining and filling up my room with its brightness and warmth. I was laying in bed listening to the radio, and trying to locate my phone that was charging on my night-table. When I finally found it I saw that I had five new text messages. “Wow I feel loved” I said quietly and then gave a little laugh. I checked them, three of them were from my best friend Sarah reminding that it was the last day of school and she was no longer grounded and two was from my boyfriend Joe, telling me that he loves me and he has to talk to me when I get to school. ‘I wonder what it can be about.’
“Lilly it’s time to wake up! Your breakfast is gonna get cold.” my mother called from downstairs. ‘Ughhh I don’t want to move.’ I rolled out of bed and my way to my bathroom. I looked in the mirror, and just stared at my reflection. I saw a tall girl about five seven, with large brown eyes, a cute button nose and nice soft lips. The last thing I saw was the scar that was on forehead near my eyebrow. I will never forget that night for the rest of my life. After I brushed my teeth I went down stairs to the kitchen to see my brother, sister, and mother and I’m guessing her date from last night.
“Morning Billy. Moring Jules.” I said to my siblings. I hugged and kissed the top of their heads.
“Moring Lilly!” they both said at the same time with a huge smile on their face. ‘They are so cute and they are growing up to quick’ I thought. As I sat down at my place I saw an egg sandwich with ham “Yum. Thanks mom.” And I started eating, more like stuffing it in my mouth. When I was done inhaling my food and juice I went back upstairs to get dressed.
As I got to my room I started playing the radio and singing along. I made my to my closet and when I opened the doors to my walk in closet I heard a knock on my door. “Come in” I called out to the person on the side of my door. It was my older brother Sam.
“Morning sis.” He said in a low husky voice. He walked over to me and gave me a hug and sat in the middle of my closet floor.
“Morning Sam. What do you want?”
“I just want to be with my sis before leaves for her last day of the tenth grade. Because knowing you and your friends you are all going to a major party tonight. Right?” he had a smirk on his face.
“Yes we are. And to let you know it’s not a regular tenth grade party its Jay Hilton’s party. Yes Sam I said Jay’s party! We are all going to the new seniors PARTY! Hells YES!! HAHA” I was laughing and spazing because I was so happy.
“Oh wow! Then I guess I will be seeing you later tonight since I am co-hosting the party.”
“Coolio! YAY we can go to same parties now. Huh who would’ve thought? Now if you don’t mind Sam please leave so I can get ready.” He got up and a hug and a little kiss on my forehead.
Sam and I are very close not only in age but in everything else. He is like my best friend. He is seventeen almost eighteen, I am sixteen. We both have the same eyes, nose and lips. We both love sports, we play lacrosse, soccer, football, baseball, and beach volleyball. Sure when we were younger we fought like crazy but as we got older we got closer. I have no idea what I would do if I lost him. We always have each other’s back and he makes sure that his little sis gets treated the right way at school. It’s a good feeling to be the only sophomore to be able to eat at the ‘popular’ juniors table. Sam is like the king of the high school, he is a straight A student, the MVP on all the team sports PLUS he is class president. All the girls are in love with him, unlike the other jocks and ‘cool’ guys Sam has a legit girlfriend and they have been dating for two years, and had only one fight and it was over something stupid. I hope Joe and I last that long, we have been dating for six months but it feels longer than that.
I finally found a cute outfit for the last day of school. I chose a pink mini skirt with a black tank top with my black flip flops. I was heading to my jewelry box when my phone rang, I knew who it was without looking at the screen, and the ringtone was the song “Brooklyn Bridge” by Lee DeWyze.
“Hey baby boo!”
“Hey babygirl. What are you doing?”
“Well I am talking to my boyfriend and trying to figure what earrings I should wear today. What are you doing?”
“Aw that’s sweet. I’m talking to my girlfriend and getting dressed and then I am going to drive and pick my girlfriend up and drive to school. Is that okay with you babe?”
I was blushing ‘He really loves me and I really love him’ I thought to myself but I said aloud “Of course it’s okay with me! Why wouldn’t it? Give me like twenty minutes? I still need to fix my hair and put my make up on.”
“Okay babygirl. Even though you don’t need any make up cuz your perfect the way you are. I’ll see you in twenty. Bye Lilly”
“You’re so full of it! I sooo need make up! Okay bye Joe”
After I hung up I grabbed my silver hoops and put them on, while running to my bathroom. I applied my eye makeup and then I put my lip gloss on. I let my hair be in its natural state, which is curly. I sprayed the perfume that Joe gave me for Christmas, my favorite Viva la Juicy. I looked at the mirror a second time and I loved what I saw, there are very few days that I don’t like what I see. And I mean VERY few. I am the kind of girl that has to look their best every single minute of the day.
I made my way downstairs, I hear Joe talking to Sam about the Rays and the White Sox game last night. Joe was telling Sam how happy he was that the Rays won again. Joe and I am the Tampa Bay Rays fan I think in New York.
“JOE!” I ran and jumped into his arms giving him the biggest kiss and hugging him close. “I missed you sooo MUCH babe.” I whispered in his ear.
“Umph. I missed you too Lilly. Mmmm you smell good.” He spoke in a normal voice. After I was done saying good morning to him I hugged Sam, saying “Sam I’ll see you at school. I love you.”
“Bye sis and Joe you better not try anything with my sister. Or you are dead. I don’t care if you’re my best friend.” Yes that’s right I’m dating my older brothers best friend.
“Don’t worry bro I won’t try anything with her. And it’s not because you will kick my ass but Lilly is different than any other girl I know.” He gave me a little kiss on the check and grabbed my hand and we headed to his car. “You look really really good today Lilly. I almost want to tell you to go change because all the guys will be looking at you.” Joe smiled at his words.
“Oh please Joe! No guys will be looking at me. They never do. I’m not worth time. I’m shocked that I have you.”
“Lilly! I told you not to say that! You need to stop thinking like that! You are the prettiest girl in the school I think in the whole town. And I am lucky to have you.”
“Ugh fine. You win. I am pretty and you are lucky to have me.” we both laughed at this.
The rest of the car ride was us listening to the radio and me singing along and Joe having his arm round my shoulder. We got to school a little early and when we got there Joe was pulling me towards the field. At this point he had put a blind fold on me so I couldn’t see where we are going. But when he took them off, I opened my eyes and I started to cry.
“Oh My GOD! JOE is this for us?” I was referring to the picnic he had set up. With a blanket and rose petals scattered round the whole blanket.
“No. . . this is for my other girlfriend. Of course its for you babe.” He brought me in his arms and with one hand he wiped my tears of my face. “I love you so much and I don’t want to ever lose you Lilly Evens.” He only called me by my full name when he had something he had to tell me.
“I love you Joe Adkins and you’re not gonna lose me. I promise!”
