It was too late when I arrived at the hospital. I could not see her for the last time. I blamed myself because of that. It was my fault, because of me she died and left me forever. I wished I could return to the past but it was impossible. I still remembered that day. 16th September 2015 when I lost my best friend forever and until today I could not forget that date. Although it had been 7 years but I still remembered when I cried and started to blame the destiny but now I realised that the past is the past and we should live for today.

I saw my photo frame on my table. I took it and look at it closer. It was a photo of me and Tia. We had our bright smile in the photo and without noticing, I smiled when I looked at the photo. The photo was taken 7 years ago when Tia and I were at the secondary school. We were having our big examination that year. It was SPM. We worked hard to get an excellent result in SPM and it was okay until that the fateful day. The day that made everything changed.

.....................................

I met Tia when I was 6 years old. Tia and her family had moved to our town and she was my new neighbour. She also was studying at my school. Firstly, we were not closed to each other until one day when she helped me when I fell while riding my bicycle. She was cycling behind me that day. I thought she would laugh at me but she did not. She was very kind and I loved to be her friend. Starting from that day, we became best friend. Every day we went to the school together, studied together, played together and did everything together. She was a very optimistic girl. I learned many things from her.

"Jane! Jane!" Tia shouted at me. I saw she ran to reach my place immediately.

"Jane, I'm very sorry. I did not deliberately make you wait. Please, forgive me," Tia said and she gave me her cute face.

"What is the time, now?" I asked her seriously.

"3:30 p.m." Tia answered immediately.

"This morning, we promised to meet at 2:30 p.m., remember?" I asked Tia again.

"Okay Jane. I know I was late but please, forgive me," she said and made her cute face again. Then, I busted into laughter.

"Why are you laughing, Jane?" Tia wondered.

"I was just kidding. I am not want angry at you. I was just playing around and I couldn't hide my laugh when I see your face. It is so ugly, don't you know that?" I started to laugh again. Tia could not believe that and she pursed her lips in disapproval but it was just for a while. She also started to laugh. Tia and I wanted to go to the shopping complex to buy new books. We went there by foot because the shopping complex was not far from our house. We shared many stories when we walked there.

When we walked there, we saw a woman that robbed by a thief. We tried to help her. Suddenly, the thief came to us and in just a second his knife stabbed at me in my kidney. The thief was afraid and scared, so he ran away. Tia tried to help me. She tried to stop the bleeding with her scarf and she shouted to get help. Many people came to us and I saw a man tried to call an ambulance. I saw everything was blur and I passed out.

The next morning, I woke up. I saw my mom. She was crying and suddenly hugged me.

"Thanks God! You are safe," that were the words that I heard from my mom. Suddenly, I remembered something.

"Mom, where is Tia?" I asked my mom. I saw my mom looked at my father.

"She had something to do today," my father answered my question.
