I can remember the first time I shipped out we were going to do a routine evac for civilians in The Wasteland, this is the core of the fight where resistance is crucial to hold them back.
When the hawk landed at the attack LZ the officers imeaditly assembled our battalion," GREEN TO FORMATION!" The Sargent yelled an us. We had 1000 troops all so well trained and disciplined to perfection, if that still exist anywhere.
We were split in to 20's then we were dismissed to our quarters. My squadron had my best friend James which made all this easier. This was hard enough bing 23 having lost all family shot down in right front of you and the love of your life missing.
"Squadron 0024 prep for evac," came over the inter comm, so bing the top graduating solder I was given this squadron. I yelled, " suit up time for business." When we reported to the aircraft bay we were told this was a routine drop get in grab a then get out.
But like in everything planed it would fall apart.
We loaded on to the hawks and left the base. The whole time in the air you pray that one of The Elepsses don't spot you. But if they do u better hope u have a good pilot cuz those alens don't miss.
But its not like god would dare interfere with them they came from the darkest depths of something pure evil. There is no mercy from them in fact no emotion at all.
We had finally made it to the school where 10 survivors are waiting for us and so far no issues.
10 of us stayed on the perimeter to watch for The Elepsses. While the rest of us loaded the survivors.
Just as the the last one was loaded there was an explosion at the north wing. Then over the LANSAT system we all carry I heard, " Hawks take off squadron stay on the ground 12 hostal predators in bound 3 troops down one KIA."
My training instantly kicked in and I ran to the school made it to the roof set up my 50cal. browning with incendiary rounds.
