*[Prom Night]*
Faith POV
Walking into the ballroom, I got stares. Not the good kind either. People gave me dirty looks and whispered into each others ears. I kept my head low and continued walking, ignoring the crowd. Probably just another rumor. I heard names being directed towards me, but I was used to them already.
"Hey s*ut" I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Julia.
"Sorry. That position has already been filled" I said before I turned back around and continued walking. I heard the crowd cheer so I turned back around. Julia and Shawn were making out. The nerve she has. Did she really thing that would make me jealous? I chuckled a bit and continued walking. I saw an empty table in the back and decided to sit. I looked around and saw kids dancing and socializing. There was a group of girls near the snacks. I could tell they were lonely too. But at least they had someone to talk to. After staring at them for a while, they sent me dirty looks, so I looked away. I bet I look pathetic sitting here alone. I want to cry, but that'll just make me look worse.
Jacob POV
Walking into the hall felt a bit weird. I originally planned on ditching, but I knew I had to make things right between us. Everyone was already dancing and having a good time. Well, everyone except for one person. I spotted Faith sitting down in the back looking so miserable. It broke my heart seeing her like that. I made my way through the crowd of people until I reached the table. I lightly tapped her shoulder.
"Care to dance?" I reached out my arm.
Faith POV
"Care to dance?" He said extending his arm. I could really slap him right now. But that smile won me over. Without saying anything, I grabbed his hand and he lead me to the dance floor as a slow song played. He put his hands around my waist and I put mines on his shoulder. People stared, but I felt one pair of eyes burn through me.
"Thanks" I said to him. I didn't make eye contact.
"Look Faith, about the other night, I'm extremely sorry--" I cut him off.
"No I get it Jake. It was just a kiss. It didn't mean anything. I'm sorry" I said as we swayed side to side to the beat of the music. He chuckled a bit.
"That's not what I was gonna say. It wasn't just a kiss. It was more than that." I felt his eyes on me, but I refused to make eye contact.
"That kiss was special. And I guess I was afraid to admit it. I just didn't want to hurt you. I had to make sure that you weren't a rebound. And trust me Faith, your not." He continued. My heart beat increased as he twirled me and pulled me in closer to him.
"Faith" he said smoothly, reaching his hand to my chin. He turned my head so that we made direct eye contact.
"I love you" he leaned in. As our lips touched I felt his that spark again. His hand reached up and caressed my cheek as I melted into his arm. He pulled away. I was still in a daze.
"Promise you won't leave this time?" I asked pulling him into a hug.
"I promise" he said wrapping his arms around me. And from here on, I know this is only the beginning, of our summer romance.
