This is a snippet that I wrote for one of my college classes. It's an extension of chapter 75. For the record, I haven't read past that because nothing has been released past 75 when I wrote this. This is also not a ship fic or anything like that. It's purely an extension of a scene that I don't know where it's going.
But yeah, Melinda be freaking wildin' y'all. I really want to know what's going on with the dang Desmonds...
How he disgusts me. My treasure. My curse. When we get home, I'll cook for him. It's been so long since I've done that. I pray he doesn't stay with me any longer. How I adore you, my Damian. I could not care less.
The words make me feel cold. I don't like Sy-on boy's mama. It's like when Mama talks about stringing bad men from the ceiling and their blood makes a puddle on the floor. Except Mama is cool. Sy-on boy's mama is scary. Her thoughts make me feel bad like something horrible is coming.
"Anya, what's wrong?" Mama asks. My neck wants to close, and I feel scared again. It's different from the bus. On the bus, we were all scared. Scared because the bad men had guns. And scared because they tied bombs to our necks. But, Sy-on boy's mama... It sounds like she wants to hurt him.
"Anya is going to be right back!" I tell Mama. I run over to Sy-on boy who steps back, surprised when I arrive. His mama looks up, giving Mama weird smile before looking at me. I ball my hands together, trying not to shake in front of her.
"Oh, you must be Yor's daughter. Anya, right?" she asks. I nod and point at Sy-on boy.
"Your son, Damian! H-He was very brave today!" I say loudly. She covers her mouth and laughs.
How absolutely silly. Is this what rubbish my son spends his time with? I hear her think.
My jaw drops and I decide to keep my mouth shut. Rubbish? Rubbish?! Me?!
Sy-on boy's mama shakes her head and starts to go back to the car. "Damian, say your goodbyes and come to the car quickly, now. And Anya, dear. Tell your mother I look forward to seeing her next week."
When she gets inside the fancy car, I turn to Sy-on boy. And I gasp, noticing the tears in his eyes. Before I can say anything, he starts talking.
"You need to stop that, Anya," he whispers. "I don't care about anything else. Or all that stuff you do at school. But, with my mother... Stay away." He wipes his eyes with a handkerchief and walks toward the car. His thoughts are all but too loud.
She can't know. She can't know. She can't know.
What can't I know?
"Anya, let's go home!" Mama calls out, breaking my thinking. I run back to her and grab her arm.
"Mama, I want cake!" Mama rolls her eyes and starts listing off a bunch of different ones for me to choose from. "All of them!" I answer.
"How about just one for today? If you eat too many, you'll explode."
"Ah! That's right," I blanch, the image of me going boom in my head. "Then, Anya wants the strawberry one!" Mama gets a determined look on her face, and she picks me up before running at the speed of light.
I hold her tight and hide my face in her shoulder. Slowly, my smile goes away and all I can think is I hope Sy-on boy is safe.
I hope Damian is safe.
