The frothy waves would travel up the beach, licking at the hot sand, covered in arrays of colourful shells. Messily painted fingernails would grasp at the shells and discarded, pale coral, placing them in her bucket as her you friends would follow suit. The children would sit in circles, showing off their findings, and as the waves retreated to the ocean they grew older each time. Now teenagers sat around a crackling bonfire, wondering where the time went.
