The first day

The first thing Cassidy noticed when she woke up was she had a headache. It was dark in the room she was in, but it still hurt to look around. Her vision adjusted slowly. She saw herself surrounded by crates and boxes, along with a few small livestock animals in cages.

She blinked. She tried to remember how she got in this room. Then she realized she couldn't remember. She couldn't remember anything at all. Her headache worsened as she became more awake and aware of what was going on. She was confused as to why she knew her name and what the objects surrounding her were, but not anything else. Not where she was, not how she got there, and not why she was there.

The next thing Cassidy noticed was she was overheating, which probably wasn't helping her headache.

Well, it doesn't help that I'm wearing a thick jacket.

She thought to herself.

Suddenly, there was a jolt, and the room started moving upwards.

It's an elevator! She realized.

She sat down, waiting to reach her destination. She figured whatever was at her stop would have answers, and any answers were better than none. There was no way to get out of the room that she could see so far, no door or any kind, so she wasn't sure how that would work out when she got there. Several minutes passed, and she began to wonder why it was taking so long. The metal shifting and clanging made her headache worse. She laid down from her sitting position. Maybe twenty minutes had passed when she realized it was getting colder and colder. She was no longer overheating.

I guess the jacket had a purpose. She concluded.

With this thought in mind, she began to wonder why she was prepared for cold weather. She wore snow boots, a thick coat, and thick waterproof pants. Her long auburn hair had a black beanie on top.

After about a half hour, the room stopped moving. It was much colder now than before. A noise of creaking came from above, like something was opening. Suddenly, there was light, and voices.

The top of the room opened up, and revealed bright white light. It took awhile for Cassidy's eyes to adjust, and she later realized the bright light and the snow combined didn't help with the adjustment. She exhaled, and saw her breath through the cold, crisp air.

"Hello!" A female voice called down, "Give is a minute we're going to come get you."

Cassidy nodded, not sure if they could see her since she couldn't see them.

Someone climbed down on a rope, a young teenage girl, maybe 16. She had short dark hair and fair skin. Freckles scattered across her face.

"Hi, my names Jordan and I'm going to help you out of here, okay?"

"Okay." Cassidy's voice surprised her, she didn't consider what she may sound like before she spoke.

"What's your name?" Jordan turned back to the rope."

"Cassidy." She watched as Jordan bent slightly.

"Okay Cassidy, use my knee to get up and get the rope then I'll follow you up."

Cassidy followed Jordan's instructions. She made it to the surface, and looked around, her eyes still adjusting to the bright snow. 4 girls stood around the hole that had the room below.

They greeted her, but started helping Jordan pull boxes up. One stood with Cassidy as she took it all in.

The ground was glazed with snow, and a spruce forest covered a good half of the land. The other half had a small building along with a half built building and a decent sized lake near the middle. But what caught Cassidy's attention the most was the massive wall surrounding the space. Ice and snow caked the walls, but she could still see it was made of stone. There was four large entrances on each of the four walls.
