Gabriel's POV:
Rosalie gets in the car and quiet fills the space, the sound of the engine rumbling the only noise that breaks the tension. My eyes stay stuck firmly out of the window and I feel her eyes resting heavily on the side of my face before she turns and we start the journey down the highway back to Forks. The radio's on and I recognise it as some classical band, the melody not matching the vibe in the car so I quickly change it over to something more upbeat and I can't help but smile when one of my favourite songs comes through the speakers.
"I've never heard this song before" She admits quietly to break the silence after a few seconds and I can't help the way my mouth falls open in disbelief, my eyes turning to glance at the side of her head.
"You've never heard of Abba before?" I had to double-check what she said and when she shakes her head I let out a breath, not understanding how that was possible.
"You live under a rock" I mumble and I see her smother a smile, her left hand changing gears as she easily sails along the roads with practised ease.
I can't seem to stop the way my eyes scan over her features like she has an unexplainable draw to her if you get too close. Her golden eyes framed her pale face perfectly and her hair was always flawless almost like she was carved out of the finest stone known to man. The only thing that let her down was her attitude and the way her shoulders were always tense like she just couldn't relax no matter how hard she tried.
"You're staring" She points out and even though a blush covers my cheeks I don't look away, blinking away my thoughts so I'm back in the present.
"I'm trying to figure you out Hale" I mutter back and I see her shoulders tense even more, the furrow between her eyebrows deep enough for me to know she definitely had something playing on her mind.
I leave her to her thoughts, my body relaxing slightly into the white leather seats when my headache suddenly spikes and I gently prod at the area I got hit realising belatedly that I had a lump forming under the skin. I wince, quickly pulling my hand away but my movement was enough to alert the girl sitting next to me, her eyes snapping my way when she sees my discomfort.
"What is it?" She asks, her eyes serious as she glances at me and I brush her off, not wanting to cause a scene but when she doesn't let it go I turn slightly to show her the damage.
"Holy-" She curses slightly, speeding the car up and I roll my eyes at her dramatics, my annoyance spiking again.
"It's not that bad" I scoff, pulling my eyes away and watching as she just quietly flicks the visor down and pulls open the mirror so I can see, my breath catching when the odd streetlight illuminates my face.
I have a huge bruise covering my right eye, my nose starting to go a rough purple colour and I manipulate the bridge of it to try and see if it's broken. It hurt, but it didn't sting which I take as a good thing and I rest my head against the headrest of the car as I think about what Olivia's going to say once she sees the state I'm in.
I don't bother to say anything else, my body language saying everything I need to and I let my eyes close, drifting off before we get to our destination. Next thing I know I'm being shaken awake and I crack my eyes open, expecting to see the familiar surroundings of my house but instead, I come face to face with trees and a forest, my half-asleep panic causing me to quickly scramble into a better sitting position.
"Hey, hey. You're okay, we're at my house" I hear Rosalie's voice and suddenly she ducks into my eye line, her eyes worried at the horror that had no doubt spread across my face. I take my time to wake up, catching my bearings and realising that she had actually brought me to her house.
