I turned around and saw a foggy window to my room as an unidentifiable creature slammed it shut with a loud 'BANG!'I look around and realization slowly dawns upon me... "I'm stuck here." I whisper to myself. "I'm STUCK HERE." I say louder. I frantically look around, whipping my head to and fro as I absorb my surroundings. A beautiful island lay before me with with small houses by the golden beach and a beautiful shimmering ocean that seemed to stretch infinitely. Behind me was a dark green forest and on the horizon, tall mountainous peaks stood looking as though they ruled the island with their height. Suddenly, I fell to the ground as a spiky brown haired boy tackled me, a large grin forming onto his face. "Hey nice to meet you, I'm Sora!" He laughed and got up, pulling me up to my feet. Then, he scanned me up and down with his bright blue eyes before breaking into another sunshine smile.
"Are you new to the island? You're y/n right? We met when we were younger "
I looked at him in confusion before a wave of fatigue came over me, nearly suffocating me with the urge to pass out. And so I did.
I don't remember exactly what happened, but when I woke up, I found myself staring at a beige ceiling. I groaned, and tried sitting up and I noticed I was in a large room with the floor seemingly made of stained glass. As I was examining my surroundings, a voice spoke out, "Welcome y/n. I'm here to bestow upon you two keyblades. The fate of this world depends on you." As the mysterious voice spoke, two keys with chains hanging off the ends float towards me, pulsing with energy. Suddenly, I woke up in a light blue room in a bed with a light yellow blanket laid on top of me.
As I look next to me I see the boy from earlier...What was his name? Sorry? Soria? Sora! That's what his name was. Sora. He was sitting in chair at his desk, working diligently. It took a couple of minutes for him to realize that I was awake and when he did, he smiled one of his sunshine smiles and turned to me. "You're awake, I was getting worried about you." I looked at him, tilting my head in confusion. "Why??? I don't even know you." Sora blinked and looked at me again. Shock was written all over his face. "Huh!? How do you not remember me... we've known each other since we were kids."
"We have...?" I racked my brain to see if I had ever seen a guy like him before but I couldn't remember. Everything before middle school was a blur to me. I shook my head back and forth to get all of the confusing thoughts out of my head and stood up, getting ready to leave.
But as my hand touched the doorknob, I heard the brown haired boy yell, "H-hey! Wait!"
"What??" I looked at him. "Your name is y/n right??"
"How do you know my name?..." I looked at him suspiciously. He was probably some weird stalker or better yet, a figment of my imagination. Or maybe I was a figment of HIS imagination. That sure would be weird wouldn't it? Suddenly Sora spoke again, his voice as sweet as honey piercing the air, forcing me out of my thoughts. He looked at me, "I told you this before, I know you! We used to hang out together all the time, remember?" I rolled my eyes and continued to walk out, with Sora following close behind me. As I trod out onto the beach, a girl in red ran up to us, her arms flailing in excitement.
"Sora!" The girl yells. "Who's this?" I look at her. "She's-" "I'm y/n." I quickly answer. Sora grinned at me as the girl looked at me, her mouth wide open. "You mean the y/n Sora hung out with? The one we hung out with when we were younger?"
I tightened my jaw, and looked down. 'How does everyone know my name?!' I thought in exasperation. 'Is this some sort of gang of stalkers? Why are they stalking me? I can't be THAT important... Right? I'm just some average university student that possibly has anxiety and depression' Amidst all these thoughts, I suddenly blurted out, "I don't know anyone here."
I look at the two people before me. Sora was looking down, seeming embarrassed for me whereas the girl examined me curiously. "You mean you don't remember Sora?? You two were best friends!" The boy in question stayed silent as I replied, "Umm no?? I'm so confused, who even are you?"
"I'm Kairi!" The girl beamed, a bright smile stretching across her face.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I know you..." I say, as Kairi's face fell, sadness and worry replacing her once happy smile.
Then, our conversation was suddenly interrupted by a loud voice cuttting through the air. I whirled behind me and my eyes met to the sight of a white haired boy running up towards me, Kairi, and Sora.
Once he got to us, he stopped, panting to try and catch his breath before speaking. "Kairi," he said, rolling his eyes playfully. "Stop running off without me-" he paused looking at me, then at Sora. "Is that who I think it is...?" He whispered, his eyes widening with intrigue."Yep," Kairi answered. "It's y/n but she doesn't remember any of us..." They all look at me with a mixture of curiosity and disappointment.
Suddenly, Sora spoke.
"Well... it has been over a decade since I met them..."
"You're right it has been," Kairi vigorously nodded. "Looks like we're going to have to teach you everything about this island and it's magic. Again."
She took my hand, and ran towards Sora's house, the other two boys following close behind us. It was then I realized that they had said something about magic. And it was then I also realized that I was in for a wild ride.
