A child alone stuck in the dark looking for a hand to grab
Holding so many people can get hard when you’re standing on nothing
So you sling as many up into the bright light above and they smile at you and never give you a backward glance
You sit alone with one dear friend and you keep company in the dark
You find with surprise even your dear friend seems to be climbing out of the dark pit you’re stuck in
Hands are grabbing for her as you sit helpless to watch as your constant companion is joining the light as you are once again left behind
Helpless to your situation
You start to ask questions with no clear answers
You find that reality is slipping from your grasp
“Why is it?” You ask that they always ignore what you thought was unique and worth looking for
“Maybe” you say with cold apprehension they saw the cold empty shell you are
Afraid of such a thought you shove it back and hide these thoughts
So you keep your chin up and look up to the light
With false resolve and artificial confidence you keep going slipping deeper into black as everyone ascends to the light
