Chapter 7 30th Birthday Party
For three days now she has woken up to a body in her bed, not always willingly but a body none the less. Shaking the sleep away, she gazes at Dashle, not quite her husband but a man she is confused about, she don’t know why she asked for him that first night but he keeps coming back. And it kinda feels good. Like last night, Shivering as she thinks about it, when he wrapped his arms around her and asked why she was crying, that felt good. But then during the day he’s so rude and standoffish. Throwing things again and appearing out of thin air, just to give her a start. Like the ball room he is keeping her out of, Harly don’t seem to mind but it’s bugging Ava, horribly. Some stupid council meeting, I don’t think so, she thinks. Throwing the blanket off and stomping to the bathroom. Stirring from the sound of the slamming door, Dashle runs his fingers through his hair, giving a chuckle. She must still be mad about the ballroom, he thinks getting up and leaving the room to sneak back to his own room.
“Sir Dashle, Good Morning.” Carlton snickers.
“Carlton” Dashle jumps pulling the door to Ava’s bedroom closed.
“Well, Dashle. Seems like you had a good night.”
“O come on Carlton, she just wants me to hold her, it’s not like that anymore. We have an understanding.”
“We all know, Dash. We’re betting on it.”
“What do you mean “betting on it”?” He asks getting angrier by the second.
“Just a little pool the queen started. Just a few dollars on a few different weeks, no big deal. She’s very excited you two are getting along.”
“We are not getting along. If anything we only get along when we are sleeping. Don’t get the wrong idea, she still hates me and I can’t say I like her all that much. But we do bring comfort to each other, now I’m going to shower and please keep this between us.” Disappearing to his bedroom thinking he should have done that all along.
“Not gunna happen” Carlton whispers after Dashle is gone.
O I hate being in this sunny realm, she thought as the sun hit her skin and the breeze whipped her hair around. With it’s rolling hills of emerald green grass and the sapphire blue sky, she could understand why Tabby loved it, but for her own daughter to prefer it. ‘Liberty don’t know what she wants, why has she asked me to come for this ridiculous party. Warring kingdoms do not mingle. Liberty should know this. She did say she wanted me to meet someone, maybe she found something out about my nephew. As flighty as Liberty is, she probably forgot to look for any information.’
As Queen Lillianna stepped from the car, she was greeted by her daughter, Liberty. Hugging her daughter and taking in the blond hair and black chipped nail polish, wondering why the girl was never happy. A quick glance at the two guards standing behind Liberty.
“Why are there guards with you?”
“Because, Mother, I do come from an evil kingdom and their queen is standing in front of me.” A complete duh look at the queen.
Sighing “Why am I here? You should be on your way home and out of this sunshine and rainbows world.”
“Because mother, I will be thirty in 3 days and two of my friends are also turning thirty. A surprise party for Ava, she needs it.” Liberty says knowing it will not make Lillianna happy.
“Really a party Liberty? Don’t you girls party enough without reason? And why do I care about the girl who hopes to bring me down?” Queen Lillianna says.
