YOU SHOULD SEE ME

"Nangka Busuk"

One, two, three, four ..... I keep count my steps. I know I can walk to his house within 3 minutes but I'm slowing my pace for purpose. You know what the reason is.

'Daisy, keep calm and maintain your poker face,' I'm repeating those words for each of my steps and guess what I'm just a second to arrive at his house. I take a deep breath as I'm seeing his back, of course he didn't hear my steps because I silent my steps.

"Hi Nick!" Nick turned around and smiled as he saw me. Actually I know he hide his laugh but let's maintain cool and pretend nothing happen.

"Yes, anything Daisy?" I don't know why but his voice makes me blushed. I can feel the heat on my face while staring at him without any single word. Nah, for short term. My world stop for a while.

"Why are ....."

"Yo! Daisy. What ups?" someone stops Nick question. I know he was about to ask me why am I blushing but thank God for my silly and stupid friend come out on time.

"Yo! Pete. Here is some jackfruit. My grandpa sent us a lot. Take some," I walk straight to Pete and give him the jackfruit. Oh ya, let me introduce my silly friend. He was my senior at school and still waiting for a college offer. The fun fact is he stay with Nick because they are cousin. Short sad story, Pete's parents died in an accident when he was 6 years old. So, Nick's parents take care of him. I can simply say that they are siblings. Pete and I are really close friends actually, that's why I'm saying he is my silly friend. Well, we did everything together and people always claim that we are partners in crime and this year I'm pretty sure some missed our duo because Pete already left the school. We never have secrets between us but he never knows that I have a huge admiration for Nick. Like hell, I'll tell him. I don't want to dig my own grave cause I know he will make fun of it until I die.

I think you might wonder why I can be close to Pete but didn't get close to Nick. Nah, simple reasons.

1. Age gap. 5 years gap.

2. Not the same school as he goes school outside of town for years until now actually. He's here today cause of their semester break.

3. Rarely talk to each others.

Also, you might wonder how I'm able to know his achievement. It's easy to know because we live in a small town. There was one time when our town made a poster for their football team. You see this neighborhood really supportive.

"Oh thanks, I really like jackfruit. Nick also," Pete grabs the jackfruit and Nick walk closer to us. Damn God, he smells good even sweating and yes he is really near next to me.

"Wow, what a nice jackfruit. Thank you, Daisy," Nick smiled and again my world stop for a while.

"Aaaa don't mention it. It always pleasures me," I'm trying to keep my head cool.

"Why are you suddenly so polite? What happens to that brutal Daisy?" Pete teased me and laugh. I suddenly kick Pete's legs due to my quick reflection habit and the jackfruit fell down from Pete's hand.

"WHAT THE HELL!" Pete quickly touches his leg.

"Payment for being rude," I said while giving the arrogant face and as usual that fight didn't end there Pete tried to kick me but I'm run and hide behind Nick's back. Okay, actually it was self-defense reflection and I didn't realize it until ....

"Okay, you two. Stop playing around," Nick stop our action and suddenly I feel really ashamed cause I'm holding Nick's back shirt and I let it go for less than a second. What a silly me.

"Erm, you lucky Daisy because Nick stops us. If not, you really need to pay for it. It damn so hurt you know," Pete try so hard pretending to be mad and hurt while I know the fact he was acting. Nah, he won't be mad at me. Never.

"Whatever," I replied.

"BTW, need to go back home. Send my regard to Mr. and Mrs. Smith," I said to them. They nodded.

"Ah, the jackfruit felt. It was just like a few moments ago," my step stops and I turned back. I saw Nick smile and pick up the jackfruit.

"Ha?!" Pete is clueless.

"Nothing, just a little secret. Let's go inside," Nick said and walk to their house while Pete follow his step I, of course, didn't wait for a second to run back to my house. I never thought he will open that "nangka busuk" topic even just for a while.

Without me realizing it, Nick saw me run and he put a little laugh.

'Why this girl looks so fun. What a kid,' Nick said tohimself and keep smiling. But it was a starting moment where Nick saw me as a kidnot that young and capable young lady.
