Chapter 2

The next day came, and I was ready to ask him what had happened to him yesterday.

I picked out normal clothes to wear. Not really caring what I looked like. I ended up wearing blue jeans with a baggy t-shirt that I got last year from one of my volleyball camps with converse. Once I changed and put on my clothes I checked myself in the mirror one last time before going downstairs for breakfast.

Aunt Carly was downstairs already making breakfast for Adam and I.

"You don't have to make me breakfast." I told her as I walked into the room
"It nothing really." She said in a tone I didn't understand.
I grabbed a pancake and started heading for my car. I usually left early from my house because I pick up Chloe.

When I got to Chloe's house, I had to wait a few minutes because Chloe's always late. When she got in the car, she asked how was my morning going. I replied with the same answer I always do. "Good." We were quiet for most of the car ride. We mainly just listened to music.

After a ten minute drive we were at school. I started looking for Jake but I didn't see him anywhere. I wondered where he could be. I'm sure he couldn't be missing the second day of school. So as Chloe and I walked to our lockers, which were right beside each other I kept looking.

We both grabbed our first period books. I had geography and she had physics. I really wished we had the same classes, but it was obvious Chloe should be in honors classes. Hannah is in all the same classes as me though. So that is good.

When I got to geography I searched the classroom for Jake. He was sitting in the back corner. I decided to sit two sets up from him. The teacher walked in and told us to take our seats. He started off our first lesson with physical features of China. I kept zoning off to think about everything that was going on in my life. That's when the teacher snapped me out of my day dream to ask me a stupid question about China that I had no clue the answer to.
" Clair?" He said
" huh?" I asked
"What is a major river in northern China?"
"Ummm..." I thought to myself.

I had no clue what the answer was. Apparently people realized I didn't either. That's when Jake shouted out the answer.
"Huang He" he said
"That's correct Jake" the teacher said kind of annoyed that I didn't answer.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Hannah giving me a smug look. I didn't know why until after class I asked Chloe if something was up between Hannah and I. She told me Hannah was jealous that the new guy liked me. When she told me this my jaw dropped without me noticing. As soon as I realized I did, I shut my mouth as quickly as possible and started walking to my next class.

I was really shocked with this news. I never even realized Jake liked me. For all I know he doesn't even want to be friends. The first time we met he ran off, so what makes Hannah think he likes me??
