I usually got made fun of all the time when I was younger and it hurt; so I turned to music to comfort me. Music was my close friend especially when it was a song with how I felt. The music comforted me when I needed it the most and that's what I loved about it. I was always being mocked
for my size, glasses, and my family life. Now I get made fun of for my music. Why must people make fun of someone who has been hurting for most of their life? I don't get it. So on day last March I turned to this band during the Kids Choice Awards which is an annual awards show that airs on the Nickelodeon cable channel, which airs live and is usually held and telecast live in late March or early April, that honors the year's biggesttelevision, movie, andmusicacts, as voted by Nickelodeon viewers. in March of 2012.The band that I like is called One Direction which is an English-Irishpopboy bandbased in London, the members are Niall Horan 20, Zayn Malik 20, Liam Payne 20, Harry Styles 19, and Louis Tomlinson 21. They signed withSimon Cowell's record labelSyco Recordsafter finishing third in the seventh seriesof British television singing competitionThe X Factorin 2010. Their two albumsUp All Night(2011) andTake Me Home(2012) broke several records. Topped the charts of most major markets, and generated hit singles, including, "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Live While We're Young,"They really make me feel happy and make me feel beautiful which has never happens. They are a boy-band that is liked by millions of girls but also hated by many.
They are well known for their signature hit that topped the charts in over 16 countries. What Makes You Beautiful. when I first heard that song when they sang at the Kids Choice Awards in 2012 my heart skipped a beat because it was like they were singing to me. I had such a connection with that song; that song is trying to get girls to notice that they are beautiful without makeup on. As the lyrics say "you don't need makeup to cover up, being the way that you are is enough." Even listening to that song over 300 times I still have a hard time feeling beautiful, but when I listen to it I do. I don't care what the world thinks. Just know that I like them and I haven't liked a band in my life before.
My life hasn't been constant since my Grandfather passed in 2002. I have turned to anime such asCase Closed andInuyasha. The word is the abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" inJapanese. In English, the term is defined as a Japanese-disseminated animationstyleoften characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastic themes.Music has helped me cope over the loss of someone who raised me. I am not only a huge One Direction fan but I'm also a big country fan. Especially the 1990's country music like: George Strait who is retiring this year from touring: Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, etc. All the famous country singers from that era up to now. But they are still my favorite. But the songs were always not what I was feeling with me being so young. So it sparked my interest when a hot band from the United Kingdom came onto the scene. I was astonished by how they captivated my attention off of my problems and onto them. All my worries leave me when I listen to them. I even listen to them when I do my homework.
They are not just an ordinary boy-band. They are family. The fans, we all are a family. We all love each other and support each other through ups and downs in the fandom, including the boys. We are there for them no matter what happens. It doesn't matter if they get girlfriends, or if they breakup with the girlfriends. We are there for them. We helped them to get where they are now. In a lot of their music videos they are singing to one girl but this one song they are singing to us the fans who feel insecure about ourselves. They love all the "little things" about us. Even we cry over them. They don't care if we have to squeeze into our jeans. We are perfect to their eyes. That's what's also hard to believe when you feel about yourself in a bad way. It's hard to take someone's words when you can't even take your own words for reassurance.
I have never truly accepted how I looked. I have always felt ugly in my eyes. That's why I like them; they truly make me feel beautiful when I don't feel it. They work so hard to make the girls feel special in their fan base. They do special things to make us know that we are wanted and it's heartwarming when they do these kinds of things. It truly touched my heart when they went to Ghana, Africa forComic Reliefare an amazing charity work that do a lot helping people all over Africa and the UK that are living with really tough life's. A lot of the children are dying from simple sicknesses like diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria, etc. The boys have paid for the production of their new Charity Single "One Way or Another," a reproduction of Blondie's hit song. All the proceeds that they save from this song go to Comic Relief for the sick babies in Ghana. I have never seen the boys more passionate for something in all my life as they are now. The whole situation down there has brought tears to their eyes.
The One Direction boys saw critical sick babies in the Hospital down in Princess Marie Louise Children's Hospital in Accra that brought all of them to tears.
The Sun Newspaper in the U.K. got an interview with the boys Feb 16, 2013.
Harry Styles, 19 years old said "Our parents worry about what we'll be when we grow up but here the parents worry about their babies getting pneumonia and diarrhoea, which can both be prevented with £5 vaccines."
Zayn Malik, 20 years old adds "We all waste money but the most important thing we can all do is give £5 to protect children from these illnesses."
Louis Tomlinson, 21 years old listens as a mother tells him her story on how she will now have to care for eight kids. He adds "I don't know how she's going to manage."
Liam Payne, 20 years old says "At home we take vaccinations for granted. But not all children here have access to them and that can mean the difference between life and death. I've watched Red Nose Day appeals before and been in tears. But seeing these babies so sick is another level of sadness. You just don't realise how hard life can be in other parts of the world,"
Niall Horan, 20 years old adds "Seeing these sick children puts everything into perspective."
Going to Africa for the boys have put thing more into perspective for them. That they don't take things for granted anymore. They all have different backgrounds just like you and me so they understand things while some celebrities seem to have forgotten about their roots. They haven't and that just makes them more special. Just like with me and my girlfriends we talk about anything. They also do the same thing in the band because they are going through the same stuff and I love just seeing a band who sticks together through thick and thin. That's what we should learn from them. On how to treat a girl right, keep her, respect her, and love all the little things about her especially for all the younger generation of younger men.
