HP x Butterfly Sister! reader

Prologue

(POV) Narrator-

A small child is seen seated on the engawa of the butterfly estate, tears streaming down her face. Her older adopted sister quietly watching her from inside the estate, a distant crow call comes from afar making the young girl look up in the hope that the devastating news from a few days prior was a mistake only to look back down again as tears continued to fall.

"She still hasn't recovered yet, Kanao?" a gentle voice asks from behind the older girl now known as Kanao, startling her in the process. Kanao turned around looking at the boy who called out to her with a sad smile across her delicate face. "No, she looks up with hope every time she hears the call of a crow," Kanao replies with a slight frown replacing her small smile.

"If I had gotten there sooner, this wouldn't have happened." She continues quietly with small tears forming in her dark lilac eyes, the boy slowly walks closer to Kanao before gently pulling her into a hug. "Don't say that Kanao." the boy says quietly while softly stroking her raven-colored hair in a comfort matter, Kanao looks up towards the boy with tear-filled eyes.

The sound of a crow call was heard close by causing the two in each other's embrace to jump apart and look around for the crow only to find the crow in the hands of the young girl they were previously watching. "Caw! Caw! Letter for Kocho Y/N! Caw! Caw!" the crow loudly announced from the young girl's hands who is now known as Y/N. Kanao quickly walked towards Y/N's side.

Y/N gently removed the letter from the crow's claws, with hope-filled E/C eyes. The crow spreads its beautiful raven black wings before launching back into the sky, Y/N's eyes scanned over the envelope seeing her name and the butterfly estate written on the yellow-tinted paper.

Turning the envelope around to see a wax seal of what seemed to be a school, Y/N gently opened the envelope, to ensure it wasn't damaged. Peeling the top flap of the envelope to reveal two pieces of paper, grabbing the larger sheet she opened it. In the letter it said:

'Dear Miss Kocho,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all the necessary books and equipment.

The term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no longer than 31 July.

Kanao and Y/N looked at each other in disbelief before slowly looking back down to the other piece of parchment in Y/N's small hands. Y/N slowly opened up the piece of parchment before reading down the list written on the paper.

'FIRST YEAR
First Years students will require:

UNIFORM:

• Three Sets of Plain Work Robes (Black)
• One Plain Pointed Hat (Black) for day wear
• One Pair of Protective Gloves (dragon hide or similar)
• One Winter Coat (Black, Silver fastenings)
• Please note that all student's clothes should carry name-tags at all times.

• 1 basic potions potions ingredients kit

• Inks
• Students may also bring one of the following pets: Toad, Cat, Owl, Rat, or Pygmy puff.

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS.
