Blessing & Curse

3000 years isn't a short time.
A person has gone through the best
and the worst.
Watched their loved ones
die in front of them, loose them,
mourned them and so much more.
There have been good days and bad days.
But no matter what..
they still stood up and stayed
with each other.
Everything had changed
but not their bond.
It still remained and got stronger
with time.

*hums a song in happiness*

Ade was in the kitchen preparing
dinner while humming a bollywood
song that she loved a lot.
She was very happy and it was a rare thing for her as she wasn't so happy
in the last few days.

She was working when she suddenly
had a vision.
In that vision, she saw Rheya and Demetrius together extending a hand towards her by saying,
"Come with us, granddaughter."

She came out of the vision and was
out of breath.
She was shaking and was scared.
Then a hand came on her shoulder
and she flinched.
It was Gaius. He looked worried.

"Are you okay, my Sweetheart?
Did you see another vision?"

"I..I..."

She couldn't speak.
He carried her into his arms and put
her on the bed.
He gave her a glass of blood to drink
and rubbed her back.
He was a caring husband.

She kept the glass on the side table
after finishing it and looked into his eyes.
She told him about her vision.
He was silent for a while.

Then he spoke,

"Ade, it won't happen.
Nothing like that would happen again."
"What if I become a moster again
like I had back at the Opera?
What if I let darkness win?"
"No. I won't let that happen ever again.
I promise you. I'll never let you go.
I love you."

Her eyes filled with tears.

"I love you too, Gaius.
I love you so much."

They kissed for a moment.
She felt better as they pulled away.
They looked at each other.

Gaius stood up and went to the balcony. He stared at the city.
She followed him and silently
stood there looking at him.

He started speaking,
"You know Ade what hurts and
makes me happy at the same time?
Our life.
This immortality.
Or for a few people this curse.
Whether they like it or not,
whether they accept it or not,
it's both a blessing and a curse
at the same time.
Blessing because you don't get sick,
you get superhuman senses,
can live forever if you're a good fighter.
And a curse because you fell in love
with a few people whom you're not
able to save or tell them the truth
about yourself.
Some beg you to be a vampire,
some don't want to be, some are scared and some don't even know that we exist.
No matter what it is, it's out if your hands. You lose them, mourn them,
move on but the pain still remains
within you and that pain changes
you into a cold person, into a rock.
You don't smile anymore as much
as you once used to.
You've seen the world change,
people die and so much more that
you're not able to process it all
at once.
Sometimes you don't even want to
accept the reality thar you've been through all of this and yet you're
still alive.
But whether you like it or not,
you're alive.
There were times when you felt
like giving up but you didn't.
You kept going and here you're.
The ones who you lost inspired
you todo what you're doing today."

He looked at her and took her hands
into his.

"You've been through all of this.
You thought you lost me
but you didn't.
Here you're. With me. We're together.
A reality you always dreamt of.
A reality in which you believed.
You worked hard and had faith in us. And it paid off.
We're together again, my love.
We've been through hell and heaven
but we didn't lose our trust and faith
in each other.
We still loved each other and still do.
Our past changed us but our bond
got more stronger.
And that's what makes me so happy.
I love you Ade.
I'll never lose you ever again.
You'll never lose me ever again.
I promise."

He kissed her hand and
she hugged him as she cried.

" I love you too, my King.
I'm so happy you're here with me.
I love you so much."

He smiled at her as they pulled away.
Then they went to bed to rest.

3000 years might be a long time but being together wasn't a curse like immortality.
It was a blessing.
A blessing for which they were
forever grateful for.
