I unpacked the last box and sat on my haunches. "That seems to be the last one." Henry smiles and lifts some bubble wrap. "I get to pop this now?" I waved my hand. "Knock yourself out." Henry goes pretty much crazy with the bubble wrap. Our new apartment space was small but cozy. I twisted my engagement ring nervously. "It's so bare." I whisper. The walls were a peeling gray and smelled slightly musty. I turned on the tape, unsure of the cleanliness of the water. Still, this was our place. Henry wraps his arms around me, making me smile. I pat his arm. "Alright, let's start painting."I say. "We don't have paints?" He says. I grin. "Let's go shopping for paints, dummy." I hand him the keys and we drive over to Home Depot. We peruse the aisles.
"Do you want carribean blue or decisive yellow?" Henry frowns and searches through the colors. "What about zany pink?" He holds up the shade. I frown. "We are not painting the walls zany pink." I tuck it in it's place with a tap. "I want the walls zany pink." He says stubbornly. I know I can't win this fight. "Whatever, we can paint the kitchen in Pepto Bismol bile." He happily places a can in the cart. I pick up a a light teal color. "What about this, for the master bedroom?" I ask. He's still smiling, the smug bastard. "Whatever you want, Charbear." I roll my eyes. "Just stop." I say placing a can in the cart. He plays with my hair a little. "But I wuv you." I turn and smile at him. "You spoiled brat." He puts on a mock angry face. "What did I do?" I take the cart from him. "What do you want the rest of the apartment to be painted, you stubborn prick?" He smiles. "What do you want it painted?" I pick out a pale yellow. "This." He frowns and says, "It looks a nursery room color." I sigh. "Then don't ask me again." He places the pale yellow in the cart."I may be the brat but you're the manipulative child." I shrug happily. We pay and hopped into our Nissan Versa. We're the annoying couple that shares everything.
I tie my hair back with a red bandana and pick up a paintbrush. "Hey, Char have you ever painted a house before?" Henry asks. "Nope." I say determinedly. Henry drew two zany pink stripes on each of his cheeks. "Let's get started then." He put Eye of Tiger on from his Spotify. Painting was ten times more difficult then it seems on tv shoes. After painting the kitchen and half the master bedroom, we lay down on the wood floor. I scratch at the teal on my arm. I roll over to Henry. He looks into my eyes. I kiss his light teal nose. "Let's order take out." He says. I nod. A phone call later, we're eating fried rice and prawns on an overturned cardboard box. Henry plays with my fingers. "Just so you know, there's a birthmark on my left buttcheek." I cough. "What?" I ask. His face almost matches the kitchen. "I mean, now we're living together and all. Just so you know. Just in case." I raise my eyebrow. "I love you. Butt birth mark and all." We both laugh and stand up. We finish painting the whole house. We watch the last rays of sunset disappear and lean our heads on each others shoulders. He kisses me and I kiss him back. Anyway, that night I found out his birthmark is in shape of Tennessee.

So they're twenty one and they are attending University of Califorinia, Berkley. I like one shots because they can be plotless and have endings.
