It felt weird to eat in a table again. Usually, Me and Ryan ate in our rooms. Only Aunt Merly and Uncle Chris gets to eat on the table.
Aunt Merly's Mac and Cheese tasted like heaven, It was the most delicious cooking my tongue has tasted in the whole sixteen and a half years of my existence.
After eating 'til our belly's felt bloated, we hanged out in the living room, until one bye one, we returned to our respective bedrooms. I knew I was going to regret eating so much tomorrow morning, but right now, I was so happy, I didn't even care.
I was lying flat on my back, looking up at ceiling, earphones stuck in my ear, blasting 'With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear' by Sleeping With Sirens. It was two in the morning and I couldn't sleep. Everytime I thought of sleep, my brain would muster an interesting topic, that kept me wide awake and thinking. It was like my mind was against the idea of me falling unconscious for a mere ten hours, completely unaware of what is going on around me. Wow. Now that I think about it, it's scary, alright.
But eventually, after several attempts of counting imaginary sleep, I managed to fall into a dreamless sleep.
When I woke up, --which was 7:15AM, by the way,-- Uncle Chris still wasn't home. So I got ready, went downstairs, ready to leave for school, when Aunt Merly stopped me.
"Have you eaten breakfast, honey?" She asked.
"Uhm, yeah." I lied. She narrowed her gray eyes at me, knowing fully well I haven't taken anything yet.
"Well, I don't see why I left five pancakes on the table for you and Ryan, and come back an hour later, to find, yet again, five pancakes." She said, hiding a smirk I know would be plastered on her face had it not been a bad pokerface.
"Fine. I'll eat an apple on my way." I lied again. Her eyes were still narrowed as she stared at me. Maybe mentally debating whether I was lying or not.
She sighed and nodded, "Okay. Be safe!"
Once she said that, I grabbed an apple and walked out the front door. I broke into a sprint as I passed by Burger King, signaling I was just two blocks away from St Patrick's High and a safe four blocks away from my house, so I threw the apple away.
Half of the school day was a blur. Nothing unusual. Nothing new. People picked on me, called me names, shoved me up lockers because 'I was blocking their way'. It was what I called, a normal day.
But by fifth period, my day was not-so normal after all.
A girl with striking red hair, came up to me.
"Hey," She beamed up at me. I gave a small smile back as she sat in the empty chair beside me.
"You're Emma, right?" She says. I felt a little happy for she actually knew me by name, and not by 'Ryan's sister'.
"Yeap. That's me. And you are?" I asked, my notebook was on my desk, and I was drawing random stuff with my black pen.
"I'm Jasey-Rae" She said. .
"You mean like All Time Low's song?" I asked, I mean that name is gorgeous.
"Exactly." She smiled wider, if it was even possible. I just nodded and resumed what I was doing.
"So.. You're Ryan's sister, correct?"
I rolled my eyes and slammed the pen down.
"Oh no. I didn't come to you to get close to Ryan. If anything I wanted to be your friend." She said, her smile never leaving her flawless face.
"Oh." Was my ever intelligent reply. Well. That's a first.
As we were talking about random topics, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ryan's girlfriend, Miranda, who hates with me a passion, walk up to us. Of course she had her girls, or puppies, as I like to call them, behind her.
"Aww, bitch made friends with the red haired freak." She said in a mockingly sweet voice. "Do you really want to bring her down to your level? Worthless slut."
With that, she left. Her heels clacking noisily on the tile floor of our classroom.
"Emma, are you okay?" Jasey asked me. She seemed to not be affected by this as much.
"I'm fine." I lied. Not long after, Mr Walters came in, starting the class with his usual "Hell-o there, students."
After the bell rang, signaling the end of fifth period and the start of sixth, I had decided to skip it, and just ran out of the school after I grabbed my bag.
Luckily, my school didn't really keep any security guards. Anyone could come in or out without much hassle.
