"Ruby, my favourite ginger chef come here," Jesus christ what would she want again? I love her so much but sometimes she needs a lot of favour. Annia is my manager and she is lovely, but sometimes when she is managing other people she needs favours. I walk up to her and smile. I made sure to turn off the heat so the food I was preparing wouldn't burn.

"So there is this event for actors who played in 'The last of us'," She smiled. "Okay and?" I asked and she made her smile even bigger and I knew what was coming. "We need a pastry chef, and you are one of the best in America, so please, please could you take this gig?" There it was. I knew it. "Alright, when is it?" I could see her eyes fill with reliving that I agreed. "It is next week on Wednesday!" She said happily. "Next week?! How do I even have the time to prepare for that?!" Her smile fell. "We probably figure something out?" It was more of a question than a statement.

"Ania, I need to know what the theme is and what they want. I need to order the ingredients and have a team to work with if it's a bigger party!" She nodded as she listened to me rant. "I know, I know. Here is all the information and I can manage to book you a kitchen for the whole week before." She handed me the paper and I skimmed through it quickly. I sighed. "Alright. But better start booking it now," She smiled again. "Thank you!"

--------------

I was sitting in my office in my apartment reading through the papers she gave me. There was written the theme, allergies we need to avoid, and the list of people. I started with the theme, zombies... so something dark and fewer exotic tastes but more apples, blueberries and stuff like that. Allergies: Lactose, nuts. We could make some lactose-free cakes and just not use any nuts. I didn't really care about the list of who is going to come but I gave it a light glance. And there it was. Pedro Pascal... well it was definitely going to an event.

----------

I always get such satisfaction when everything is done for a bigger event. After I planned everything and me and my team had been practising for days. When you see the final product being given out. It is a great feeling.

"Good job guys!" I said and everyone turned to me. "You guys worked hard, so now clean up and get home," I said and they lined up in front of me. I never know why my team those this. "Good job," I said as I shook the first person's hand. "Thank you, chef,". Then I repeated the same interaction with the next 5 people. I love my team, working with them for 5 years now. I was proud of them.

"Ruby," I turned around to face Ania. "Yes?" I said and she smiled. "God, you are full of chocolate. Go and change into the second jacket, they want to meet the pastry chef." I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, chocolate gets everywhere when you work with it," She laughed slightly and I was on my way to change. When I came back, Ania lead me inside the restaurant.

He was the first person I saw, and I couldn't get my eyes off him. He was looking at me too the second I came in. He was confused, it was easy to say. "This is Ruby O'Malley, the pastry Chef that lead the chef team tonight," I snapped out of it and looked at Ania as she talked. "She is one of the best pastry chefs in America and I am very happy to have her here tonight," It wasn't unusual for me. We had a lot of events where I made food for celebrities. So I had people clap for me before, but this time it was different. As I made eye contact with him as they did so. I smiled and avoided his eyes and I gave them a little bow.

"Thank you, Ania. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you," I said and we exchanges smiled. "Alright-" Ania continued talking but I couldn't help but look at him. I knew he couldn't help it either. We were just staring at each other until both snapped out of it when people started to raise up and put their jackets on. There was a person coming to me with a smile, so I also put a smile on.

"I loved the blueberry mousse cake, it was great! I definitely will ask Ania for your contact information, so I can have it for special occasions." It was a man around my age and I smiled. "Thank you, I appreciate it," I said as I smiled and he just nodded before walking off. I turned to Ania. "I will help my team clean up," I said and she nodded. "Good job," She said as she patted my shoulder. I gave her a light smile and walked back to the kitchen and helped to clean the kitchen up.

I let my team go first to change. I stood in the kitchen leaning against a counter. I pulled my phone out to check if I had anything new come in while I was working. 1 email, 4 messenger messages, 2 snaps and 1 text...

Pedro:
-So... you're a chef?

I honestly thought he forgot about me. It had been like two months since the hook-up.

Ruby:
-Yes, a chef and a pastry chef...
-So... you play in "last of us"?

Pedro:
-Yes
-I guess you're hungry after work?
-Want to make up for not eating the avocado toast you made for me.

I laughed slightly and bit my lip.

"What are you doing still here," I looked up at Ania and put my phone down quickly in my pocket which she furrowed her eyebrows upon seeing. "Im waiting for my team to change first," I said and she nodded. She was still looking at my pocket where I just shoved my phone inside. "Alright, but I am pretty sure they just walked out..." She said. "Oh, I didn't notice..." I smiled and she nodded. I walked to the changing room.'

Ruby:
-Alright, but don't freak out on me this time
