"Wake Up! Today is the day we leave for our hometown!" I heard my mother's voice. "It's 05:00 am! The sun's barely up! Why do I have to get up so early?!?!?" I say but my voice came out louder than what was intended. Oh! I didn't mean to yell!

I heard my mother sigh "You know why we have to leave early. We have to drive 5 hours and traveling by plane costs way too much. We also have to help your grandparents clean and set up the house so I and your father can leave for the city. Plus you get to go to a new middle school for 7th grade! So get up and get ready. We leave at 05:30. You don't even have 30 minutes left." Oh and there she goes. I don't want to move schools at all. I mean do you know how hard it is to make friends!

I mean oof. I'm just the sad lonely girl with anger issues. But still, I don't want to help clean. I hate cleaning! I like being organized so I never really had to clean a lot. All I do to clean is vacuum my room and make sure nothing gets dusty. But my grandparents, on the other hand, don't care enough to clean every bit of their house, so the basement (also my soon-to-be room) and other parts of the house they don't use often are never really clean.

"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you your cousin is also coming to stay" I heard a voice say. "Which one?" I ask. "Lyla" she answered back. Oh. Her. Well, what can I say but the fact that I hate her. She does not mind her business and sticks her nose into others'.  "Okayyyyyyyy" I can't really oppose can I? I would just come off as rude....not that I'm not! I'd just rather seem nice and kind.

After I got ready and packed my phone, laptop, and headset, I go downstairs and wait for my parents. "Mom I got ready. Why are you guys taking so long? " "stop whining." my father says. "Waiting for a few more minutes isn't going to kill you" "okay" I answer back.  I just want to sleep. If I'm being honest, I'd rather stay asleep for eons.

We finally got in the car. I sit in the back all alone. I fell asleep 30 minutes into the ride. And slept the entire way there.

The car came to a sudden stop and that woke me up...sadly... We got out and met my grandmother. From all, I know Lyla's family is running late by 3 hours. "So where is my room? " I ask. "The stairs led to the basement. Also, I think that you should clean it. it's slightly dirty. " "okay".

So I have to clean the basement. it can't be that bad right? So I went down and I opened the door................................... " WHAT. IS. THIS? " OH, MY GOD. HELP. "WHAT HAPPENED" sounded the panicked voice of my mother. "MOM, COULD YOU LOOK AT THIS PLACE? YOU WANT ME TO CLEAN AND LIVE HERE!?!?! " "what do you mean? It can't be that bad. Be grateful they are letting you stay here for 4 years- OH MY-" "seeeee? Would you want to stay here?" I counter her answer leaving her flabbergasted.

"Well yes, I would. But I would clean this place first and guess what? you are going to do just that." she smiled proudly at her response. "So I am to clean this rat nest of a basement alone?"  " Don't be disrespectful. And yes. you are cleaning this basement and also your soon-to-be room alone. Also at least try to get it done before Lyla comes here. You always said that you wanted to look good" "okay fine I'll do it." I was getting a bit annoyed at this point. My mother went upstairs to apologize.
