Prompt: Something your characters really shouldn't do.
Characters: Idalia (one time OC), Vinegar Doppio"Fucking run!" Was the only thing I could utter as me and the pink haired boy I had befriended got chased down by whatever was after us. It was late in the afternoon, a chilly Spring end of day, if you will. The leaves grown from the barren trees were green and vibrant in contrast to the light blue sky and the snow near the curb of the roads had just begun to melt. It was stunning. Today was stunning. "Please- tell me they are gone!" Doppio yelled between harsh breaths. I kept my composure, laughing and praying that my legs could take me only a bit further away from those bastards.
"I'm turning left! Come after me!" I squalled, almost pulling my friend by the collar of his shirt into the ground. "Who were they?" The boy panicked, letting go of whatever air was left on his lungs. "I think- I'm- Not so well." Doppio aired, limping until his vision turned black.
I had hidden us both in the dark junction of two walls down an alleyway. It reeked of trash and piss, if we dug a bit deeper no doubt we would find a corpse chilling against the soiled brick wall. "Wake up already..." I mumbled, resting my friend's head on the face of my thighs. Doppio didn't wake up until a few seconds after I positioned his body against my very own. "Are they gone?" He looked up facing me, our eyes met for a split second before I broke free from his gaze. "Most probably." I smiled, laying the palm of my hand in his forehead. "When you said you would follow me to hell and back, you really weren't lying were you?"
"Of course not, Idalia. We're friends for life."
"Even when you end up dragged into my mess, you're optimistic. Good Lord Doppio..."
The boy sat up, in his eyes shone little stars. His hair was slightly more jumbled than usual and his clothes dirty by the spot I chose to hide us both. "You're a saint, you know that." I smiled at him.
Doppio looked at me with those God-forsaken eyes of his. A beautiful chaos of soiled yellow, truly made in the image of Jupiter itself. "Just because I helped you steal some cigars from the shop down the street doesn't make me worth of Heaven." He lifted his resting body and sat by me against the wall.
"Fair enough. But c'mon, it was sick! The owner really bought into that innocent act of yours didn't he?" Chuckling, I let me head fall to his shoulder. "He did! Did you manage to get a lighter too?" Doppio faced me, he seemed happy, even if we were sheltered in this misfortune of an alley.
"You bet."
Lighting the cancer stick, I took a long puff and breathed out the smoke straight into his face. It was funny to see him react to the world around him. "What are we doing next?" He questioned, looking for havoc. "Have you heard of the jewelry story just around the corner?"
