If I make any mistakes, don't correct me. I lost my respect for this language a while ago. Thanks 💖Foggy rain pummeled down through the treetops. Divine sighed gleefully. The way the water rolled down her back made her happy, but it was short lived. As most things were. She was one of many heirs to the Rain-Night thrown, which had eventually become known as the Starwings, due to all the hybrids. She herself was one, though it only showed in her dark grey scales and colored eye spot that glowed a golden color under the sun.
As she trekked through the rain-ridden forest, she kept a close eye on the moving shadows, clearly indicating the guards that were assigned to protect her.
She could see, smell, and hear them. Which just made them moving indicators that she was approaching. Which made them fairly useless for Divine, who'd aced her venom shooting test as a dragonet.
Divine groaned under her breath, mostly disguised by the rain. Of course, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't convince her mother to stop assigning her guards. She was overly paranoid and protective of her daughters. Which was stupid because she had 19 of them.
She'd sigh again, before landing on the wet, slick flooring that lead to the palace. The old thing had been rebuilt at least 5 times through the 2000 years it's existed. The last rebuilding only being before Divine had hatched. Apparently, her mother demanded an entire new section of the palace be built for her daughters, specifically so that they never ran into another and couldn't form bonds. Therefore they wouldn't team up to challenge her.
"Mother? I brought your breakfast. Mother?" Divine called into the dark room she had partially stumbled into. Not the most graceful princess, but whatever she lacked in grace she gained in social skills.
Her mother's bedroom was large, and always seemed mostly empty. Expecially after her father, hurricane, died. Her mother had his desk moved out, which took up a good portion of the room. Now the queen simply worked in her room. Never leaving for anything really.
She couldn't stay mad at her mother though, she tried her best, and she was wonderful when her husband was alive. His death completely ruined her outgoing and over-easy personality. She now layed mostly motionless, writing scrolls and working from her castle.
"Yes, yes. I'm in here." Queen storm spoke softly. Divine gentle walked towards her mother, setting down a basket of fruit. Mostly assortments of fruits they obtain through trades with the other tribes. This one was full of pears and some sort of cactus fruit.
"Are you alright?" Divine spoke, her hushed tone making an attempt at comforting her mother, who was stuck in her own pit of self doubt and grief.
"Yes. I'm just dandy. Now go. I'm busy." Divine's mother whisper-hissed. Divine's ears flopped down, her frill following.
"I apologize. I'll be out in the garden if you need me." Divine said, before hurriedly walking out the room.
She didn't dislike her mother, it was just....
Hard to love her when she was like this.
She started pushing everyone away rather recently, and Divine wouldn't be surprised if one of her 18 sisters challenged hsomething. point. Then they would probably execute her and the other 17 sisters so they couldn't challenger her for the throne-
Better not to think of those things now though.
***this timeskip brought to you by me***
Eventually rain cleared, unvailing a thick layer of mud covering the ground. Tromping through the stuff would make a gross squealsh sound everytime.
Divine didn't mind it though. She was rather calm and enjoyed the tranquil peace of the rainfor-
Suddenly, she felt a force drag her into a hollow tree, holding her mouth shut. Panick started rising from Divine. What if it was one of her sisters about to kill her? What if it was an assassin? Was this going to be the end or-
"Thank goodness they are gone. Sorry about that, I didn't mean to scare you." A strong, confident voice said. Craning her neck, she saw a large, red-green-yellow rainwing with a large sail and a....
"Oh. Ya, forgot. I'm Vermillion. A Rain/sand hybrid. Nice to meet you." Vermillion held out his hand.
Divine took it with both of hers, as she was taught to do as royalty.
"My name is Princess Divine. Pleasure to meet you." Divine spoke.
"Oooooh- so your Queen Storm's favorite daughter! Wonderful to meet you!" Vermillion happily said.
"Favorite? I- oh." Divine muttered to herself. Of course, she wasn't quiet enough.
"You didn't know? Actually, nevermind. She never lets you interact with your other 5 sisters anyway." Vermillion half-sighed.
"What do you mean 5? I have 19 sisters." Divine asked, noticing the mistake.
"Ah- about that. The rest of them have already challenged her for the throne and lost." Vermillion said. It struck Divine in the heart. She never really knew them, but they were still her sisters.
"Oh." Divine shuffled awkwardly, "well. I uh-, I must leave now." She said, before crawling out from under the tree-root-hollow and taking flight.
Vermillion kept his gaze just a bit longer. Watching her become a gray-pink blur amongst the foggy grey sky.
Maybe, just maybe. If he held on. She would stay a bit longer.
