ARC 1 - THE SUBURBS
CHAPTER SONG - Rue by Girl In Red —-
"You pull this knob up, and then water comes out from the head up there."
For the past five minutes the boy you saved, Isagi, has been teaching you how to use a shower.
After roughly 30 minutes of explaining to they boys that you were indeed not hurt the wound is old and has scared over already, sharp teeth-Raichi-not so nicely complained about how you smelled like shit. Now you'll admit, you do smell like shit but it's insanely hard to find natural clean water outside of outposts, plus you're not getting naked in the middle of the woods. Thats literally what some outposts do to exile people, so no thank you, you'll happily smell like shit.
Now that leads us to here, Isagi teaching you how to work a shower. You'll be honest, when you first entered the room your flight or fight instincts kicked in because a certain beast in the Outlands enjoys building nests in toilets. It's weird, but you learned quickly not to bother the fuckers when you almost lost your hand to one.
"Do you understand, [Name]?"
You forgot he was here.
You give Isagi a quick nod and with that he's exiting the bathroom.
"Okay! Thats great, um, I'll be outside the door if you need anything. Also feel free to use either me or my mom's soap...Uh, bye." Isagi shuts the door to the bathroom, leaving you alone.
You stand still for a few minutes, blankly staring at the door until your gaze shifts to the mirror hanging on the wall. What greets you isn't a happy sight, or maybe thats just your disgust for yourself talking.
What reflects in the mirror is you, or the you you've had to build up to survive without your mother. You're sure that if you take of your gas mask you wouldn't even be able to recognize yourself. You haven't even seen your face since the morning your mom died, you sitting in front of the only shard of a mirror your dad found scavenging one day with your mother standing behind you styling your hair. It's the last good memory you have of her, the rest of the day hidden behind a mental wall with only the consequences following you.
You don't take the mask off when you finally decide to clean yourself, to scared of the person that lays behind it. —-
It's nearly and hour later when Isagi hears the bathroom doorknob twist and his vision is flooded with light streaming though the doorway. In the doorway stands you, the person who saved his life just four or five hours ago at this point.
You look...good, definitely better than you did an hour ago. The clothes you're wearing are possibly the biggest upgrade, what look like homemade pants fit nicely and aren't baggy like the pants/long skirt you wore before and you've got on a pretty old purple sweater that has 'I ❤️ NY' on it. He doesn't know what an 'NY' is, but you must like it right? Maybe he'll strike up a conversation with you about it later, or in the morning because if he goes off what his phone said last 4 a.m should be approaching soon. It's just now that he notices how exhausted he is, and to make things worse Raichi and Bachira are gonna interrogate you as soon as your back in the basement.
