His voiced echoed underneath the tree. I turned my gaze to the man standing above me. He was peering down at me, holding a tattered, old book in his hand. He had sparking emerald eyes, staring into my eyes as if trying to find something. His attire consisted of a white t shirt and black jeans, a little to-
His voice silenced my thoughts "I said, Isn't the world beautiful, at least that's what i thought" He announced. What?
"It was a beautiful place..." I trailed off. I started to wonder how I ended up sitting underneath a tree, by myself talking to some man.
"Everyone tries to cover up something corrupted to make it beautiful" He mumbled something under his breath I couldn't understand.
Of course the world wasn't perfect, I was well aware it was corrupted, hell I almost got raped by some creep in an alley. But it seemed he had a much deeper meaning behind his reasoning.
"It's just the way society is I guess, they expect something from you that you can't give and that's enough to make a person feel worthless" Something flashed before his eyes, but went away to fast for me to decipher what kind of emotion it could of been.
He ignored my comment. "What are you doing underneath a tree while its pouring rain anyway" He asked.
"I could ask you the same thing" I said. He stood silent. I turned to look at him, as his gaze was fixed on the sky. The moon lit the sky, bringing his features to my attention. His face was ghostly white, and his hair was pushed back off his forehead. He swiped his tongue over his dry lips.
"Its a waxing gibbious tonight" He announced. What?
"What?" I questioned, clearly confused on what he meant.
"Its a waxing gibbious, the moon. "
"Okay.." I said. I dont understand why it mattered, unless this was his attempt at making conversation.
"The moon comes in phases, and each phase lasts 4 days" He said. Still rapt in the sky
"You must major in astrology?"
"No, I find it necessary to know the dates of the moons and when they occur, for future reference" He said
"Oh" I said, not really knowing how to respond.
"Do you realize we are a speck of dust, almost nothing in this galaxy" He announced.
"Well, I never really looked at it that way" I said.
"Its okay, most people dont really appreciate what helps make life exist" Ouch.
"Yeah, I guess so." I said.
His gaze shifted back to me, making strong eye contact. "I have to get going." He brusquely dismissed me. His change in demeaner baffled me.
"Alright, well have a goodnight..." I trailed off, not knowing what to call him since he didn't tell me his name.
Before I could receive an answer from him, he was gone. He must of stalked away while I was to distracted gazing at the sky. It really is a beautiful place isn't it? I lay beside the trunk of tree drifting off to sleep, The corrupted world consuming my thoughts except for the man that thought otherwise.
A/N I know this kind of sucks, but its the first couple chapters and I still have yet to develop the plot. Just hang on? LOL. For future reference I love cliff hangers, so watch out !
