Jang Gang, the known Gwanju of Cheonbugwan had twins, a boy named Uk and a girl named Sayan, even if Jang Gang wasn't the real father of these two, due to the fact that the gwanju performed the alchemy of souls after receiving the king's order, in order to exchange body with the late last king since his royal highness was terminally ill and couldn't have an heir with this body. Then after having exchanged his body with the gwanju, the king decided to have a child with jang gang's wife which, 9 month later, led to Do Wha (gang's wife) giving birth to twins.
Their « dad », jang gang had closed uk and sayan's gate of energy after they were born to protect them from their destiny but when she was 5 years old, sayan fell of a cliff and the only way to save her was by opening her gate of energy, so Heo Yeom was forced to open her gate and took care of her until she got better.
But the daughter was unfortunately taken away from the jang family's house when she was only 6 years old by Jin Mu who wanted her for her powers, her family searched everywhere with hope to find her one day but after 5 years of searching, they assumed that even if she was still alive, they would probably never find her...
Jin mu wanted her because after heo yeom opened her gate of energy, she found out that she had the ability to see energy (like bu-yeon) and she was also able to heal wounds and minor diseases, at first she was only able to heal minor injuries like scratches or skin cuts but it was only the beginning.
After bringing her to Danhyanggok and introducing her to naksu who was 5 years old at that time, so one year younger than sayan, he took sayan apart where naksu couldn't hear them and told her that all of her family were dead due to a fire, that he rescued her and also that she had to never tell naksu her true family name and origins, he declared that from now on her name would be lee sayan.
