A girl, who stood far from him went into and submerged herself in the water .... and that wasn't in any way a part of some Puja.
" Wait !, what are you doing ?!! " He ran to where she was moments ago, panicked at the scene and swam towards her.
A moment later, he came out of the water, carrying her in his arms.
She coughed heavily and spat out the water once Karn laid her down.
" Subhadra ? " he recognized her and shock covered his entire being. Why would Vasudev's sister go to commit suicide ?.
Subhadra gazed at him as if in a trance before an anger filled look came over her.
" Kyu bachaya mujhe !! " she slapped Karn once she stood up.
" Murkh stree !!!. Khud ki hatya karne se pehle kabhi apne ma aur pita ke bare me socha tha ?!! " Karn exclaimed.
Subhadra was shocked at Karn's furious expression as he continued " did you ever think how your parents would live after your death ?!!. How the deaths of your 6 brothers at the hands of your own mama has affected them ?!! ".
Subhadra looked down and shed tears " I will be better off dead. No man wants a spoiled woman !!! ".
" you're not spoiled " Karn shook his head " you're a good person ".
" I have been rejected by a Devputra so I am not worthy of marriage " Subhadra closed her eyes " it was months ago when Arjun came to Dwarka to meet Krishna ... I loved him. I wanted him to marry me.... I begged him to ... he refused me. When I insulted him in anger, he insulted me back and called me inappropriate names. Arjun rejected me and rumors spread.... if a Devputra rejects you then there is something wrong with you.... that's how this society thinks ".
" You expect Arjun to betray his wife's trust ? " Karn raised an eyebrow.
Subhadra was shocked and opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out as she was lost for words but then she spoke " a man can have many wives ".
" A man can have many wives but it takes a truly strong hearted man to love them all equally and remain loyal to you alone " Karn said " even if you married him, he wouldn't have been able to love you more or less than his first wife. Your life would have been worse, and it would have been none of your faults ".
Subhadra was speechless now as she thought over it.
" For his rival, you sure do praise him a lot " Subhadra dryly said. She did not know why she was feeling happy and being her old sarcastic self again, but for the first time in months, she felt alive.
