Cressida POV
I never felt so powerless than I did in that exact moment.
I watched in horror as Sebastian cast the crucio curse on Ominis. Ominis's body contorting in pain as the spell cut through the skin on his chest.
The red lightning bolts carving their way across flesh, sizzling and burning with searing intensity. There was a scream. My scream as I rushed forwards.
Sebastian turned, glee in his eyes. No longer my Sebastian; he was lost to his selfish desires. I grabbed Ominis and the moments following were a blur we found an exit from the dammed scriptorium and wound our way to the common room. The only sounds were my sniffles, Ominis's groans of pain and the shuffle of our feet. Fortunately, we didn't pass anyone else as I got us back to Ominis and Sebastian's room. The walk to the room of requirement would have been too long and I don't even know how to explain the injuries to the Hospital Wing. I gently set Omimis down on the bed and knelt in front of him.
"Ominis, I'm so sorr-" I chocked out between tears.
"Sorry for what?" His voice was strained and full of anger, "Sorry the man I love cast an unforgivable curse on me? Sorry, YOU convinced me to show you the way into that forsaken place? Or just Sorry you didn't get to cast the curse yourself?!"
"Ominis!" I stood back from him, tears staining my cheeks.
"Just go Cressida." He was pulling his shirt closed over the still fresh and pulsating wound. "You've done enough damage for one night." Sobbing as I turned, I reached the door and left without another word.
I found myself running out of the common room and down towards the spiral staircase that led to the map room where I spoke with the keepers through their portraits. Tears blurred my vision as I ran, onwards and onwards until I felt the hard marble flooring under my feet. I stopped in the centre of the room and sank down to my knees.
"Young one, are you quite alright?" I looked up to see Professor Rackham was inhabiting his frame, concern etched on his features.
"Professor..." I reached up and wiped my face with the sleeve of my robes. "I witnessed a dear friend do something terrible and I think I've lost another dear friend due to it. I know this is trivial in comparison to my work here but it feels as if my heart might shatter."
"Dear child, your work with us is dangerous and lonely. It pains me to hear that you are struggling. Your friends will come around and when the time comes, your trust in them will be put to the test, I hope they do not fail you."
"What should I do Professor? I am worried that Sebastian has gone down a path I cannot follow and Ominis is in such pain." I could feel the tears building again. "I have come to trust both but myself and Omi can both tap into the ancient magic."
"Your friend can also see the magic?" Rackham leant down in his frame.
"Well, Ominis is blind but he spoke of light in his ever darkness, which turns out to be wisps of ancient magic." I wrung out my hands, unsure of what Rackham was wanting to know. "We've also psychically linked with one another before, heard each others thoughts."
"Outstanding." Rackham straightened up once more. "Bring your friend to us." And with that he exited his frame, leaving me alone and more conflicted than before as I stood in the centre of the room.

Sebastian POV
I watched at Cress and Omi found an exit to the scriptorium, unsure of the reason why they were so upset. I'd found a way in. I'd done it. Something they couldn't have managed without me.
I stood in awe as I looked at the room in front of me, checking the shelves and various artefacts that filled them. Then I saw it. A large old leather bound tome. As I opened it, I found myself filled with joy. This was it. It had to be, it would have the answer to curing Anne and finally she'd be able to return to us. I tucked the book under my arm and grabbed some of the other artefacts I spotted in the room before making my way out of the scriptorium and up to the room of requirement, the resources in there were sure to help me decipher the book. As I entered Deek spoke to me but I took no notice of him, heading straight over to the reading corner that was set out for me. Cress and Omi weren't here, how strange. Perhaps they had gone to the great hall for some food.

"Deek!" I called to the house elf that kept the room. "Grab me some food from the kitchens, I won't have time to go myself."

"Oh! Yes master Sallow, Deek would be honored!" The elf replied before running from the room.
