CHAPTER 1
---------------------
COMMON SENSE

Athena's pov

I sighed slowly as I bowed down and raised my dress with my right hand while placing my left hand on my chest. "I greet His Highness, The Crown Prince." He said, with a frigid tone, "Lift your head." His tone of voice made it clear that he and I had the same lack of interest.

I kept a straight expression, "Please follow me this way to the garden, where I have prepared our date." He broke the silence as we passed through the corridors, saying, "You would look prettier when you smile." I knew I couldn't be impolite to His Highness, but damn... I was really eager to. I lack the urge to grin at him.

I gave him a bright smile as I turned back and said, "I'll try to smile more for His Highness." As I turned around, I lost my smile. As you get older, you become smarter and learn more from the world around you. Being the Empress is useless if no one speaks up; fear keeps everyone silent. Because they are afraid that if they speak up, the others won't open their mouths either, and the silenced will never speak up.

It's absurd, but that's how we humans behave; we're strange creatures like that. If one person speaks up, they will be killed, which is enough to intimidate many. What occurs if everyone works together? Has anyone ever asked what would happen if we all spoke up?

It was perfectly silent, and I drank my tea pleasantly as usual while he glanced off into the distance.

"Athena, right?" I wince slightly and glance at his highness, clearing my voice, "Yes, your highness?"

"I have to ask you questions because I can't choose a queen because of a complicated feeling called 'love,' is that okay with you?" He's still smiling, but it sends chills up my spine, and I nod cautiously.

"I don't expect you to know anything about the current war with the South, but..." He glances up, trying to think of a way to describe the current position of the fight. Even if it was accidental, it insulted me. I can't bear people looking down on me. "Baron Rastin and Viscount Klavida, right?"

"Correct." He crosses his smile. How much should I tell him to get him to stop looking down at me while not making him think I'm fit to be queen... "If you're going to ask me about which is right and wrong then I believe it's Baron Rastin."

"Oh? And why is that, Princess? Personally, I think Baron Rastin is in the right since it used to be his grandparent parent's father land but gave it to his great-great uncle, He should have the right." He looks inquisitive. This is a severe problem that should not be taken lightly. "Correct but that doesn't mean the land will always be owned by him."

I continued, "According to the book of history of nobles, It was written that you and Your Highness's family used to own 72% of the north but now it's 47% which is still the largest but from the recent news, It seems like you won't start any wars. One would think it's because you own the largest empire but there are others fighting for that place too."

"Where are you going with this, Lady Athena?"

"He has more than enough land, why want more? Viscount Klavida is not making excuses for this because it used to be his, He's just trying to find excuses to justify killing innocent people which means..."

His Highness asked, "Which means what?" He crossed his knees and leaned forward to show his attention, and I blushed a little before I could finish my sentence. He already knew which side was right or wrong. I never stop talking once I begin, and even everyone else finds it annoying.

I exclaimed, realizing in my agitation that "you knew all along." I got flustered. He responds, "Correct. My empire has more than enough land that fit over 8,000 people. Baron Rasin has already twice the land of his people. So, not in any way can I side with Baron Rasin"

"I never knew a woman having an interest in politics." He says with a chuckle

Oh no, I'm going to get caught. "Ahem, Yes... Because of my tantrum over a pretty dress, my father locked me in my room and told me to read the newspaper as my punishment. It's quite boring, honestly"

It is common sense to know that one person does not represent other people. I have only seen affluent women bemoaning about their beautiful gowns. Not as common as you may believe is basic common sense.
