I published this without a title and now it won't let me change it 😭! I wanted it to be called 'Almost Blown Cover'.

(Shellingtons pov:)

Pearl dropped me back at the kelp and left to go get the basket of urchins we has left behind. I went over to some of the high ocean rocks that were sitting near the cliffside. I was still shaken from earlier and didn't want to float in the water with the fear of going under again.

-at dinner-

"Shellington, hunny?" I looked up from my crab meat to see my mum looking at me across the flat of kelp.

"Yes mum?" I replied in the most civil and respetful way I could.

"Are you OK?  You haven't eaten anything? You always devour crab meat." It was true. I hadn't eaten anything. I felt like I was gonna pass out from the waight of the stair she was giving me.

"I'm fine...just not very hungry."

"Why not?"

"I'm just not."

Pearl decided to but into the conversation. "Is this about earlier?" She whispered, but mum apperntly heard it.

"What happened earlier, Shelly?" My face went hard. I looked up at Pearl and gave her the best glare I could while not making it obvious through my eyes. Pearl obviously got the message and almost flawless came up with an excellent excuse.

"We had a race today. See who could pick up the most urchins in 5 minutes. The looser had to give the other €5. I am now €5 richer than when I woke up this morning." I softened my glare and went back to chasing my food around the plate.

Mum laughed before going back to her urchins. There was silence for the ret of the night. No one talked to me until I went to bed.

-10 pm. Bedtime-

"You have to admit it though," Pearl continued, not looking up from her phone. "She was fooled" I spat out my toothpaste and put my stuff away before walking out of the bathroom.

"I can see that, caption obvious, but what do we do when she finds out that a 16 -almost 17- year old Sea Otter can't even remember to breath?! It's bad enough that I have an allergy to the reason we were created in the first place, but now I can't even do the basics to survive?!" I flopped down on my bed as I got myself ready for whatever crazy idea pearl had for making this work.

"What if I gave you my smart watch for the next trip? You culd set a 9 minute timer and that gives you a minute to get up the the surface." Whatever she thought was good about the failed technique we had used over 10 million time and it hadn't worked, but I trusted her.

"I'll try it, yet again, but if I drown again it's your fault."

"You won't drown if you don't procrastinate, Shelly."

"Procrastination is not something I-"

"Yes, so when the 2 minute warning, the 1 minute warning AND the 30 second warning all went off you wernt procrastinating going up for air. I get it. Common mistake." I knew what she was trying to do and I hated it. I wanted to just go to bed already.

"Go away, will you?! Your beyond another level of annoying!"

"Thank you!" She replied with a smirk.

"Do you want to go to bed or your grave?" I growned, sitting up on the bed.

"OK OK! Goodnight" she laughed before turning off the lights and goin to sleep

I sacrificed my maths homework to writ this 😢! But it was worth it!

Their beds are just thick sheets of kelp BTW. That's what I was told anyway! Don't quote me on that!
