The small steps of a four year old boy running on top of a wooden tiled floored hallway filled the empty silence engulfing the entire house.
The little boy didn't notice the heavy atmosphere, he didn't notice the dripping tap in the kitchen, he didn't notice the ladybug that laid on top of the window, he didn't notice the weeping skies, he didn't notice the tears dripping down his Aunts face while she hid in her room, he didn't notice her choked sobs,
No, instead he was simply caught up in his own world. Staying with his Aunt while his parents went on a business trip overseas. He expected his parents to be back in time for christmas at least.
But he didn't know they would never come back at all.
Akemi stared solemly at the four year old boy, she didn't even know how to handle this situation. Should she just break the news? Tell her nephew, Akira, that his parents are dead and gone forever and destroy the sweet smile he displayed on his face as he played with the building blocks she bought for him.
She exhaled before picking up her cup of coffee that she brewed earlier and taking a few sips. The bitterness of the warm coffee stained her dry tongue. With her lips glued to her cup, her eyes scanned the room.
She was trying to find something to distract herself, just anything at all.
Her eyes finally landed on the soccer ball that she placed on a open shelf that she installed herself.
There was a small picture next to it, it was a picture her, Akiras mom whose name was Aiko, Aiko was also her sister, and Akiras dad whose name was Minato and of course her bestfriends, Noel Noa and Ego Jinpachi.
She let out a small smile, with her eyes still rid of life she stood up and found her way towarss the shelf, she lightly picked up the soccer ball, Noel Noa's signature was on it, no suprise there.
She took a deep breath and put on a giant grin.
"Okay! Akira wanna do something fun?" She beamed.
Akiras eyes suddenly lit up and she felt her heart melt for a second. "Oo oo we get to play soccer?" He questioned with a large grin.
"Mhm! The rain calmed down but it's a bit wet outside, are you alright with that Aki?"
Akira nodded and quickly ran to put on his sneakers, he always wanted to play with that ball but he could only reminisce all the times his Aunt would tell him not to touch it.
They both made their way outside.

"Okay! I'm sure you know the most basic way to play soccer right? Don't overcomplicate it, it's all about scoring in our case right now. So, show me what you got Akira!" Akemi kicked the boy towards the little boy and waited in anticipation.
