Game time. Stacy had called me up and there really is nothing much to say about what happened it was enjoyable and I cannot lie has got me curious but my main focus is of course on Chad, and today was his match day, he played Varsity American football at Greenwich High School (my high school) since I was a freshman and he was a Sophomore recently I had been getting a lot more attention from people in different years, I've been dating Chad for a few weeks now but I don't think anyone really knows, and knowing Chad he doesn't want them to know either.
I had been focusing so much attention on Chad that I had completely forgot about basketball, a passion of mine that has always been. One day I hope to be playing in the Brooklyn Nets but until then its hard-work non stop.
Another long day at school, journalism wasn't too bad though, Mr Galway really had a connection with me, and we got partnered up for a group assignment to write an article on A successful company, I had again been focusing too much time on Chad and not gotten a chance to make any friends so I thought it was perfect timing now. When it was time for me to be grouped up "Liberty, Mariluna and Johnson" Mr Galway called out. Liberty was in my basketball team but I had never paid attention to the rest; Liberty was short, had box braids with little bits of blue which meant her signature look was to always wear blue, Mariluna was shy, hid her face behind a book and seemed to really like floral patterns, lastly Johnson extremely smart looking he in fact looked more like the principle than our principle did.
At first, I was hesitant about working with Liberty, Mariluna and Johnson. They seemed like they belong to different social circles, apart from liberty who was in my friend group but we aren't that close as I only really talked to Stacy, I realise now I need to make more friends. Nonetheless I wasn't sure we would mesh well together. Unfortunately, my suspicions were confirmed when we started brainstorming for the project. Liberty was more interested in talking about the latest basketball scores than discussing the company we were supposed to be researching and I have to admit I was too. Mariluna didn't speak up at all, and Johnson seemed to want to take over the whole project.
Even though Johnson was hugely annoying he came up with a great idea to interview Peter Bolberry the head of our local grocery company, which was now a multi million dollar company now. Liberty ignored his idea and said "So, anyways more about the basketball game, Marie gets me you know." Johnson rolled his eyes and said "We are trying to work here Liberty can we please stay on topic!"
Liberty looked offended, I could feel the tension in the room rising "Sorry, man" she said sarcastically "Marie gets me though don't you."
"Personally I thought Johnsons idea was really good, basketball is after school we can tall about it then Liberty." Johnson looked at me in a surprised way but then smiled. This just made the argument even worse between Liberty and Johnson I could see Mr Galway's frustration growing as he watched them bicker. "Guys can we focus on the task at hand!" he said sternly. "We don't have time for this." He then walked off.
"Guys we're going with Johnsons idea , him and I will go to the company first thing tomorrow morning, then send you all the information we collect and we will organize the presentation at mine the day after tomorrow sound good? good" everyone nodded their heads I can't believe I had that in me I was almost proud of myself. Everyone started getting along and I felt like we were a team. Mr Galway approached me at the end of the lesson saying he was very proud of me.
The bell rang, and it was time to go to basketball practise I was really excited since basketball is a passion of mine, back in the UK , I was the best player in my team at my old school.
As basketball practice began, my best friend Stacy and I took the court, dribbling and passing the ball to one another. Stacy was coming with me to watch Chad's football game we were teasing each other about it. Stacy was interested in my brother who happened to be Chad's best friend. "Girl, don't get your hopes up Duke is a player." Stacy snorted "And Chad isn't?" We came to the conclusion that all jocks are players. We were joined by Liberty, she seemed to have cooled down since journalism, she was a 'rising star'. Our relationship seemed to be much better on the court and the three of us bonded over our love of basketball, cheering each other on as we made successful shots and practicing our drills.
