Five figures, hiding their faces, gathered around a small fire, the wind and rain swirling around them. They had been quiet for a minute now, each looking at his neighbor. After the long silence, one stepped forward.
"Why are we all here? On a night like this?!"
The others whispered amongst each other, wondering the same thing. The whispering grew louder when a new figure arrived, dressed in gold, and showing a gruesome face. It was scarred, slightly burned on the left, and the hair was long, oily, and black. The smile he held would give chills to anyone who saw it; Teeth corn yellow, and crooked like sinking gravestones. Lips dry and flaking, a tongue darting out on occasion to wet them, although it did nothing.
He stepped into the circle, warming his cold fingers by the fire. The first demanding figure pointed at him. "Kako! Why are we here?!"
The others stared to ask him question, a few yelling, so the that it all sounded as if twenty people were there, instead of five.
Kako held up his bony hands, motioning for them to calm down. Once the noise had stopped, he looked at the fire as he spoke.
"It's wonderful that you all could come. I have been meaning to talk to all of you, but it seems that you were all so...busy." When he spoke this last word, when he rose his eyes, they were hard and dark. The group shuffled uneasily. He began to walk around all of them, glaring at each and everyone of them. He then stood behind the demanding one, leaning down to his ear. "You have been busy, haven't you, Katergaris?"
Katergaris gulped down the fear he was letting show. Kako kept his mouth at Katergaris's ear. "I heard all about your plans." He leaned away and looked at the entire group. "About me", he started to circle them again, like a Seet bird waiting for an animal to die, "And to take everything that belongs to me!" He shouted near another's ear, causing the figure to jump. Katergaris fell to his knees.
"Please, Igetis, we meant no harm we jus-"
Kako glared at him, the fire reflecting in his eyes, causing him to look like the dreaded Daimonas. "No harm!? You were planning to destroy me, and take back your land!"
Katergaris flinched slightly. "Igetis, the people are not happy! They will revolt! We just wanted-"
Kako grabbed him by his short hair. "Wanted to what? Create freedom? Anarchy? No!" He threw the man down, and looked at the rest. "I will not have five, filthy, lower-class men defeat me!"
He straightened his back and looked at them with a merciless glint.
"I will not let you win."
The wind howled over five bodies, the fire doused and smoke dancing with the wind.
