Trapped in a Snap
Maya woke up chilled to the bone. Shuddering she snuggled deeper into the blanket but she could still feel the cold seeping beneath the goose-filled duvet no matter how deeply she burrowed.
She mumbled something that may have passed for English but staunchly refused to open her eyes. She’d had the best dream of her life and she wanted to get back to it. It had been so wonderfully perfect - an entire night of hot sex that had left her breathless and achy in all the right places.
Maybe it was the house. Or maybe it was the dark and sexy ghost that inhabited it. Ok, so maybe he was a little more emo than the guys she usually went after. Plus he was dead, which was a really big turnoff. Still, even she couldn’t deny he’d inspired some pretty hot fantasies. Even the hangover she could feel pressing just behind her eyelids couldn’t ruin her best-dream-ever high.
Sighing, she said goodbye to her fantasy lover. It was time to get on with another glorious day in hostile territory. Rolling over she threw the covers back and was wholly unprepared for the hunky, sexily disheveled male lying next to her.
“Mornin’, chère,” he said sleepily, his black eyes gleaming as he reached for her.
Maya screamed and scrambled so far back she fell right off the bed, off the landing, and right onto her naked butt.
“Ow.” She rubbed her ass gingerly or perhaps it was her pride. It didn’t matter. The hardwood floor was cold and it stung like hell either way.
The gorgeous stranger materialized in front of her, “Maya, are you alright?” he asked, his voice full of concern as he reached for her again.
Forgetting her backside for the moment, Maya scrambled away from him. His black eyes followed her movement like a hawk but he didn’t move to follow her this time.
His eyes…they seemed familiar. Where had she seen them before? Why did she think she had seen them before? He was undeniably gorgeous, with a perfect face and body that would make a Hollywood agent weep. Broad shoulders tapered down to perfectly defined abs, the muscles so deeply etched she wanted to drag her tongue against the groves. His hair was long and wild, and just touched the top of his shoulders as he watched her with a slightly amused expression on his face.
Maya ground her teeth together. Even his dimple was perfect!
She shot up and did her best to clothe her naked form with the bed sheet that had fallen with her. She wrapped it around her like a toga, almost tripping as she tried to put some distance between them.
“Ok, who the hell are you?” she demanded to know. Before he could reply she asked a few more questions in machinegun efficiency, “How the hell did you get in here? And why are you naked?”
It was a good thing her glare wasn’t a weapon Daniel thought mildly. Otherwise he’d be dead.
Again.
He grinned, “You lady, have the mouth of a sailor.”
She only proved his point further by continuing her cursing barrage.
When the worst of it was over, she gave him another dark look as she crossed her arms across her body. “And why are you just standing there smiling at me? Are you defective or something?” she asked crossly.
Daniel frowned and stood up quickly, his brain finally catching up with her words, “Did you…wait, can you see my face? See all of me?”
“Of course I can freaking see you!” she snapped, “That’s why I asked you why you were naked.” Not only was this guy too hot for her addled brain to handle, he was also extremely happy to see her.
