Surprisingly, dinner at the Wayne Manor was silent, save for the sounds of utensils clinking on plates as the residents ate dinner. Damian was apprehensive. Silence with Dick around was not good. Not good at all.

The night was Damian's last day of the term before winter break began. So, the fact that Dick was silent and not celebrating "Damian surviving a normal life for a full school trimester" was quite strange.

Dick and Alfred looked at one another and nodded. Damian sighed quietly. Finally, they'll tell him what the hell was going on. Damian, predictably, hated not knowing something.

Dick visibly couldn't find the words to say. Hell, he practiced what to say as if he was practicing how to ask out a girl. He swears, dealing with Damian was like dealing with a girl for the first time. He had to rehearse what to say and phrase things in such a way to make it seem like Damian was right and/or it was his idea in the first place.

Alfred sighed, seeing that the first Robin had already veered away from trying to figure out how to break the news to Damian.

"Master Damian, it has come to our attention that the following weekend will be the customary end-of-term parent-teacher conference." Alfred opened up, waking Dick from whatever tangent was going on in his head.

"Yes, I'm aware. Grayson practically choked when I handed him the notice this evening, remember? I don't see what's so wrong. I performed well and even practiced your menial advices during my entire first term. There should be nothing worrying you. If anything is then it would be your fault for not providing as sound advice as you think." Damian said, in his usual bratty and haughty tone before eating.

Seriously? I plain parent-teacher conference was all this was about? These people are practically keeping Gotham alive with him while his father was gone and yet they're worried about something as simple as a parent-teacher conference. It was abysmal and he feels wronged for having his dinner ruined over something so simple. He will never admit that he also feels a bit sad that they don't have trust he did well over the course of the entire first term.

"Little D, it's not your performance that we have to plan for. We have to align stories for what happened to Bruce and Tim. By rights, Tim should still be in school and Bruce should be the one who is handling all your school essentials. We were lucky thus far that none of your classmates approached you about the whereabouts of your dad and brother but we have to be careful from now on because teachers will be concerned and will have noticed that I and Alfred are your primary emergency contacts and that your mother is out of the picture. Parent-teacher conferences are the perfect way for teachers to question these abnormalities. Hence, the game plan." Dick explained.

"My home life is none of there business. Just say that." Damian said dismissively but internally he was grateful. Not that he'd admit it to himself that he was happy that they actually trusted him and are including him. No, he's a Bonafede tsundere.
