Rises The Moon

You sat on the couch, helm in your servos. You heard pede steps behind you, but didn’t react. You just sat still, breathing shakily. “Y/N? Are you alright?” A deep voice said, and a servo was placed on your shoulder. Optimus. “I-I’m fine. Don’t- worry.” You choked out, sounding like you were about to cry. “You are not fine. What’s wrong?” 

          “I- I don’t know… I just feel like…. scrap.” You sighed shakily. He moved, and you felt him sit down next to you. “Come here.” He said gently, and pulled you closer to him. You let him, and he moved to be able to hold you more comfortably. You started crying into his shoulder. “Shh… you’re alright.” He said softly, putting a servo on the back of your helm and letting you cry. 

          He started humming softly.

         You shifted slightly, still sobbing. Then he started singing quietly. 

“Days sometimes seem as if they’ll never end..”

“The sun digs its heels to taunt you.”

"But after sunlit days, one thing stays the same…"

"Rises the moon."

         His singing was very comforting to you. You had never heard him sing before, nobody had, that you know of. 

"Days fade into a watercolor blur.."

"Memories swim and haunt you."

"But look into the lake shimmering like smoke.."

"Rises the moon."

"Oh, oh, close your weary eyes."

"I promise you that soon the autumn comes."

"To darken fading summer skies."

"Breathe, breathe, breathe.."

         He sang gently, not loud, not rough like he seems on the exterior. You soon began to calm down, but stayed still, letting Optimus hold you. He kept singing. 

"Days pull you down just like a sinking ship…"

"Floating is getting harder."

"But tread the water, child, and know that meanwhile,"

"Rises the moon."

"Days pull you up just like a daffodil,"

"Uprooted from its garden."

"They tell you what you owe, but know even so.."

"Rises the moon."

"You'll be visited by sleep.."

"I promise you that soon the autumn comes,"

"To steal away each dream you keep."

"Breathe, breathe, breathe.."

          You had fallen asleep to the sound of his singing, and he smiled softly. 

"Goodnight, Y/N."
