One day after school, Felix found Diana sitting on a bench in the school courtyard, reading. Feeling devious, he decided now was the time to give her a hint about Claude's feelings, or maybe get a nudge at her feelings towards him. After all, Claude was a handsome man with a rich background. He may be hard to get to know, but once his barriers are broken down, he's actually not that bad of a person. Kind of like a cat.
Felix walked towards her and sat down at her side.
"Hey Diana, what are you reading?" He spoke towards her.
A bit startled, Diana hurriedly closed her book and spoke up. "Hi Felix! It's just a novel my friend Lilly recommended to me."
Lilly... Felix knew this name. It must be Lillian York, that one quiet girl who everyone knows for some reason. Felix was actually once interested in her, but so were many other guys, so he decided to not pursue her. But, enough of that. Felix had other businesses to attend to.
"I actually came to talk to you. There's something I want to know." He started. "I just want to know what you think of Claude."
"Claude..." Diana's eyes shifted down towards the ground. She started fidgeting with her hair at her neck, twirling and straightening and then twirling again her golden locks. This was a classic example of Diana's flustered actions. Felix knew that her answer was going to be entertaining.
"I think he's a great guy! Why do you ask?" She finally replied.
"A great guy? In what ways is he a great guy?" He continued to press.
"Uhm... though he doesn't show much expression at first, once I got to know him, I realized it's actually quite nice to be with him." Diana spoke with such cadence and elegance, like a fairy weaving her words into a song. The slight blush on her cheeks and her sweet cherry toned voice indicated her exact feelings. "He's very witty, and he cares for you in his own way." Diana leans back and recalls the time when she got a fever in the middle of the school day.
That day, she was feeling quite bad as she woke up with a pounding headache. Nevertheless, as she had exams that day, she still went to her classes. The stress of that day's exams must have weakened her, as she nearly fainted while walking with Claude and Felix to her next classes. But Claude's vigilance and gentlemen's instinct alerted him, so he was ready to catch her when her knees buckled.
"Are you alright? Do you need to go to the nurse?" He made sure Diana was safely guarded from the commotion of students around them.
Diana replied weakly, "No... it's alright, I'll...." But Diana didn't even have the strength to speak properly.
He helped her walk to the nurse's office, providing support as she unintentionally leaned onto him. After the nurse checked her temperature, it was confirmed that she had a high fever. In her condition, she couldn't make it home alone.
"Claude, you are excused for the day. Help her get home." The nurse told him.
So, like the nurse said, he helped her get home. After they arrived at her home, Diana wanted to tell Claude that there was no need to help her anymore, that he could return back to school. To this, he simply stated: "I can't leave you alone like this."
While Diana rested on her bed, Claude went out to get meds for her fever. He also cooked warm foods such as steamed egg and rice porridge, treating her with his utmost care.
Thinking back to that moment now, Diana felt a pleasant warmth in her heart. She was glad she was able to have him there at her weakest moment. His support and care ultimately made her stronger. She lowered her eyes and smiled.
