Serena's Pov

I was late. I was again fucking late for my school and guess what it's the first day at my new school like seriously what's wrong with my luck I wonder at times. I'm Serena. Serena Derulo I'm currently studying at a  university in California. St. Wooden's University .As a typical nerd from childhood I have never really thought of corny cute stuffs related to relationships, love , sex,or anything sort of that and to be honest I never really mind doing that because nowadays no one really seems to enjoy the feeling of freedom which you basically lose in a relationship. Like duh who would even like to apologise for being asleep and not being able to reply to one's call or text? Not me atleast.
But not gonna lie, growing up I saw my parents being involved in arguments on a regular basis but the way they sticked with each other even when things got tough was really inspiring to watch and I would definitely not settle for a person who is just okay with losing me.
I have always been the top of my class. No one throughout my school years was able to beat me in academics and for that I got a lot of criticism from people (dumb one's) but who cares when you can literally score a 98.53% and shut their mouths.
Anyways I am definitely late for school today and Sasha my bff since the age of 4 is literally honking a car infront of my house.

"Hey sleepyhead! Don't wanna catch up with the hot boys in campus or what?"
Sasha said shoving a milk tea in my hand. My favourite.
"Just stayed up late catching up with the school's info."
"As expected. "
Sasha drove the car at its fullest and we reached school in no time.
As soon as we reached our destination I ran my way through the crowd to check the rankings we got while we got into the university
And to my holy surprise FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE Someone surpassed my scores my entire world shattered in just a matter of microseconds.
Sasha ran up to me and asked judging by the gloomy look on my face
"Is everything alright luv?"
"Definitely not."
She then examined the notice board and understood the reason of my gloom
"It's alright. Everything has a first time, you'll get over it."
But I wasn't someone who's gonna give up on a guy who dares surpass my scores. The name written on the notice board was Adrian. Adrian Rhodes.
When suddenly a black car came and pulled itself infront of the notice board region in the rudest way possible and stepped out of the car was my mortal enemy Adrian Rhodes and his friends, Maira Williams , Jordan Mendes and Sophia Ryder. All a part of the "son of a bitch" club and also the rich club. They all pushed their way through the crowd towards the notice board and Adrian checked out his name there
"Duh. I knew the school won't send a congratulatory text to my parents." They all laughed and suddenly I and Adrian made an eye contact and to my surprise they were coming towards me and Sasha
OMFG.

"Serena Derulo right?"
I was infuriated at the thought of this unworthy guy being a topper so i just ignored him and turned my back against him and pulled Sasha and myself out of the place when suddenly Adrian pulled me by my shoulder and gently "slammed" me against the notice board. The same notice board where I felt my world shattered.
"Don't you dare turn your back against me ever."
The way his eyes pierced my body and soul just made me shy around a boy for the first time .
I guess Sasha was right there's a first time to everything.
