Ember's POV

Not knowing where I am, and oblivious to who's around me or who's watching me.

My nerves act up once in a while to every little creek that I hear, goosebumps rising every now and then.

I feel completely clueless, unaware of which direction I'm heading.

You know when you have a feeling that someone's watching you, but there isn't anyone near you?

That's how I'm feeling right now.

Paranoid. Tired. Helpless. Vulnerable.

My thoughts were unfocused, emotions lying all around the place. My life had been a complete mess from the last few weeks- no scratch that, ever since I agreed to that stupid game, my life has been flipped completely upside down.

I just wanted for all this to be over; I wanted to be back home with my family, but I knew I had to find a way out myself. Right now, my trust was weak.

Trust was something I honoured, it's something you have to earn, not something that is given straight away.

The trust I put into my closest friends but ended up being betrayed in the end, now I don't know if I could trust easily again.

It's pitch-black out here, my vision playing up every once in a while. I can't see anything but the figure-like trees that surrounded me, trapping me from my freedom.

This unlit night wasn't a total waste, the darkness that surrounded me kept me hidden in the ghostly shadows of the trees.

I was flat-out tired, ready to collapse right there on the hard ground, relieving the ache in my bones, but I knew I couldn't. I would be at my weakest point, letting my chaser capture me, taking me away against my free will.

I flinch at the touch of a wet substance hitting my shoulder.

Wiping it off, I keep moving. I couldn't let my thoughts distract me from breaking free.

Every ounce of my body was screaming in pain and misery, how I could I let my life come to this?

Then another wet drop falls on me.

Growing at a faster speed, water begins to fall on me and around me more consistently but lightly.

Slowing down my speed to a brisk power walk, I extend my arm in front, testing if it was rain water, and I was right.

But now wasn't the time to have a rain check, I needed to keep moving.
