The following day went bad for me. I got scolded by my boss which was enough to ruin my whole day. I left work later than usual because I had a lot of work to catch up on, I even forgot about Smith. I got into the same cab as the previous day and to my surprise, he was there already. He gave me an irritated look then I returned an intimidating look, I wasn't in a good mood anyway.
Well, today he wasn't rushing to any operation room, he dropped at a fast food restaurant.
We started taking the same cab every day because of our close routes but never talked to each other. I very much hated him.

A week later, news reached me that I was going to defend a case and of course, he was my client. That just made him more arrogant.
By the way, his name was Cliffton Smith, lucky guess...

So this was the case- a 96-year-old woman died in his hospital but he claimed she was murdered because "no patient ever does on my watch". It didn't make any sense to me because her family wasn't even interested in the case but whatever, I just wanted to get paid.
He informed me that none of the woman's family members ever visited her except her granddaughter, on the same day she died. And all her bills had been settled by an insurance agency.

I asked, " Why would her granddaughter poison her? we can't prove it!". I suggested that it was a natural death, the woman was 96!
So he reported me to the firm and requested another lawyer saying he couldn't keep up with my "attitude". I mean, he was the arrogant one!

Anyways, I got into trouble with my boss but was still going to work with him. We worked on the corpse and turns out she was poisoned but it didn't make any sense to me why her 16-year-old granddaughter would poison her.

The woman had willed all her property to a charity but her lawyer informed me that her family had tried to take it by force.
So I and Smith fixed a date to visit the dead woman's house.

She didn't keep any pictures of or with family members and I found a note just on her table. The woman had known she was going to die and that her sons would be after her property so she left an emotionally-hooked note.

We were able to get something though, her sons were after her property.
This progress made Smith so happy, I was too. He was too overwhelmed, he smiled at me for the first time...
