Marnie jolted awake, phone falling off of her desk. The entire classroom turned to look at her, and Mr. Tortellini glanced at her, slowly approaching her desk.

"Miss Mozzarella, were you sleeping in my class?" He asked, annoyance visible on his face.

"No sir, she was just smelling her books, for educational purposes," Tohru said, receiving a grimace from their teacher as he headed back to his desk. Marnie smiled warmly, thanking Tohru with a smile. The rest of Pastronomy went by in a flash, and the second the bell rang, the two friends were running to the cafeteria.

Tohru's table was always full. She was the most popular girl in their grade, but only chose to spend her time with Marnie, her only friend. The two lived three streets apart and met in Tastyville Daycare almost 12 years ago. Ever since then, the two had done everything together. Tohru didn't accept invitations to anything if Marnie wasn't going, and Marnie didn't take AP classes just so she could have the same schedule as Tohru. The two were inseparable, and they loved it that way.

Unfortunately, Marnie had a secret. She was graduating at the end of the year and planned on leaving for Portallini once summer ended, as she had already been accepted to Cavatelli Community College. This meant that Tohru would have to complete one year of high school without her, and this was something they'd never done before.

"M, You're staring off into space againnn, Earth to Mar!" Tohru said, waving her hand in front of Marnie's eyes. Marnie blinked, giggling quietly.

"Sorry, Tohru... Didn't mean to." She smiled, continuing to eat her mac and cheese.

"I swear, sometimes it's like you're not even on this planet with us." She sighed, shaking her head. "Anyways, how does cheer sound? Margie wants me to try out, but I'll only do it if you want us to." Marnie grimaced, not wanting to leave Tohru without interests once she was gone.

"Uh... You could try out alone?" She offered, receiving a collective gasp from everyone in the cafeteria. Tohru dropped her fork and stared at her.

"What... You've never ever listed that as an option before, Marnie." Her friend said seriously. "What's going on?"

"Nothings going on, we're just gonna be seniors soon and I don't want to keep you from finding new interests, y'know?" She said, smiling nervously. She didn't like the fact she was sorta lying to Tohru, but she didn't have many options.

"Doesn't matter. I don't wanna cheer anyways." She sighed, sipping her drink. "I can't wait for summer... Think of all the fun we'll have..." I'll be packing most of the summer... She thought, but just smiling and nodding. She'd tell her soon, just not today. She didn't want to ruin her entire year after all.
