Fives POV.
I awakened in a world full of strange yet incredibly alluring colors and noises. Sev, a fellow warrior from a life I couldn't entirely recall, stood beside me, yet there was an unspoken bond between us, weaved from our shared history as clones. This universe was centered on quirks—individual abilities that defined people. The thought of forces determining fortunes sparked my attention. Sev and Y/N, youthful boys in this new world, exhibited a calm intensity, and an instinct-driven demeanor that matched my own.
As we moved through this unfamiliar environment, I couldn't help but notice the heroes who were known for their oddities. In our society, they were idols, adored for their skills in the same way that we revered our Grand Army Generals. But it was a different kind of bravery based on unique characteristics rather than tactical knowledge.
Sev and Y/N's presence, though unfamiliar in this life, felt oddly comforting. The connection we shared as clones lingered in the background, a silent reminder of our past. His commando instincts clashed against the innocence of childhood, much like my own outspoken nature collided with the societal norms here while Y/N, with his gizmos and aloof attitude to outsiders, was another companion. We were a mismatched trio, navigating a new world that was so vibrant and colorful compared to the sterile halls of Kamino. The quirks fascinated me—each unique ability was a testament to the diversity of this world.
Sev, Y/N, and I navigated this world together, our clone instincts pulsing beneath the surface. The soldier's instincts within me yearned for structure, but the child's wonder pushed me to explore the unknown. Sev, ever the quiet observer, was as intrigued as I was, though our approaches differed. Our experiences as troopers left an indelible mark, shaping our perceptions in this unknown world.
Some could control elements, while others had superhuman strength or agility. It was a jumble of abilities, each with its intrigue and potential. Sev's quiet observation stood in stark contrast to my vocal inquiry. I questioned the limits placed on these oddities, the hero-villain dichotomy, and the intricacies of good and evil. It reminded me of the ethical quandaries I experienced as an ARC Trooper.
During a pre-elementary lesson one day, the teacher spoke of heroes as if they were the backbone of society. The concept irritated me. I couldn't understand why everyone trusted these people only because of their idiosyncrasies when the world moved with or without abilities. Because of their innocence, my peers my age in this world have always agreed with this brainwashing, but Sev, Y/N, and I can see through this falsehood. I raised my hand, my curiosity burning within. The teacher, with an encouraging smile, called on me.
Fives: "Teacher, why do we rely so much on heroes with quirks? I mean, sure, they can do extraordinary things, but doesn't society move forward even without them? Isn't it the everyday people, the scientists, the doctors, the engineers, who also contribute to progress?"
The class fell into a brief silence, the teacher taken aback by my question. But I couldn't help but feel this was a discussion worth having. The teacher paused, considering my inquiry.
