Cases

Sue's situation must never, not even an inch, be revealed. It will only cause a huge commotion, and I personally would not prefer something like that. Later that night, I brought the parcel with me to my home. As usual, I locked myself in my room, sent an email to the Student's Affair Chief- attached are the documents for the legalization of the Supernatural Club, and read through the countless cases mentioned in the folders as I opened the parcel. It was after I read through it all that I missed the part where a series of sticky notes were stuck in front of the latest folder, and it was addressed to me specifically, though the originator was not laid out. I can assume that the one who wrote must also be the one who sent the parcel, Lenard Choi. On the front, a yellow sticky note emphasized that:

"The world isn't perfect. Of course, it wouldn't be. The Demiurge created it." following the sticky note is another sticky note but in a different pastel blue color. "I know you will read this sticky note late. By the time you have read this, you have already told people in hopes of trying to understand this new viand on your plate. Zed, as someone who has suffered the scenario that you are about to suffer, I am going to lend you some information." this was followed then by another green-color note, "We, presidents' job regarding this matter are only to document odd cases, and not interfere with them. Usually, we report it directly to the campus director because they know about these, Zed, they know about these strange happenings. But I was ambitious, Zed, I tried finding the root cause of the problem, but I only left myself partially insane." this was then followed by a pink note, "I know you. I know this situation will intrigue you more than it has intrigued me. But, I beg you, please don't be insane. The school may clean my image and call me an alumnus a couple of months from now, but I never graduated. They will drop me out because I tampered with the fountain at night. They will call me insane because I have seen the future! If you don't do something about the student that got lost, then tragedy will befall. Our school is built on a reality anomaly hotspot." then an indigo note followed, "By the way, I wrote this letter and compiled this parcel six months before you got elected as president. I have seen the future, and I will be in a psych ward by the time you are reading this."

The letter he made me read didn't just sit well with me. That's why Lenard was acting strange halfway through the school year, and that's why he didn't show up at the graduation. People thought he was just doing something more important than a 6-year culmination of hardship ceremony. In reality, he was just battling such a disheartening scenario. Just what are these anomalies and what is the demiurge?

I sat on my bed, placing back the folders in the parcel as I slid it under my table for tomorrow. I laid my back on the soft sheets and stared directly at the ceiling fan right above me. What have I entered? I asked myself. Why am I feeling anxious? Why am I afraid? Suddenly, a black bug's stench violated my room, and it woke my spirits up. Who am I kidding? I chuckled while lying on my bed. I am Zed! And I... I have a goal.

The morning followed and the classes resumed. As usual, the SCA office would only be operational at hours after 4:30 in the afternoon. I asked my fellow SCA officers to take a break for the week, so there'd be no complications with his ongoing confidential problem. On my trusted laptop, I wrote in the standard Times New Roman, font size 12, "Odd Case #13: Missing Sue."

I can't believe I'm writing an "Odd Case" a day after I just grasped the gist of everything. As I sat on my chair, a simple knock vibrated from the door. "Come in!" I moaned.

"Just as you said, upperclassman Zed, we're here.", Ezekiel entered the SCA office together with Davila and Viktoria, but behind them are also the other club members that were also aware of the situation.

"It feels off with Sue not being here." said a man with a single strand of hair painted pink. His name? everyone knows the versatile Ahnz of the tenth grade. Though he isn't really affiliated with any spiritual or supernatural knowledge, the nerdiness he received from his late father really caught up with him in terms of knowing world anomalies. Look, according to the records, his father was a nerd, and soon after his father's death, Ahnz used his father's interest as a way to cope with his passing.

"Ahnz, please don't mention her that randomly. It makes me want to miss her. And take that paint off your hair, it makes me want to poop." replied the hypersensitive Ero, eleventh grade. For his background... uh... I don't really see why he really wants to be a part of this club. According to his career interests, he wants to be a chemical engineer. What does that have to do with this club?

All of these people are prodigies in the STEM field. High academic marks and a good reputation are what makes them recognizable every single time they walk through the hallways.

Yesterday when Ezekiel agreed regarding the cooperation of their club with the strange happenings in the school in exchange for the swift coordination towards the accreditation of their organization, I requested the three of them to do four biddings: One, summon all members of the club- same location at this time. Two, announce to the public that Sue didn't disappear and that it was only an inside joke many misinterpreted. Three, never tell another living soul about what happened. And four, fool everyone regarding Sue's disappearance.

It was reaching five in the evening and it was the second evening without Sue. The plan was to fool the dorm managers into thinking Sue was just having a hard menstruation that she couldn't resist, but stay in the dormitories. Each dormitory room can accommodate at most two individuals and Sue's roommate, Davila- could only do so much in making the night scene effective in fooling the eyes of those who regulate them.

"I would like to congratulate Davila for her outstanding performance of hiding Sue's situation from the eyes of the faculty." I clapped my hands as I heard the news hours before the meet-up. "How did you do it?" I asked her as she took a deep breath.

"Couldn't have done it without her." she looked at Viktoria who had plain eye bags, expressively bringing out how stressed she was with the whole situation without any words.

She explained that she took an hour off her life to strategize a plan to sneak Viktoria out of her dorm and pretend to be Sue. In fact, the plan was quite detailed and timed that even I, was out of words. Viktoria's room was in the same hall as Davila and Sue's room, which means Viktoria could dupe Sue. How did this work? Well, the room arrangement was a huge contribution. Viktoria's room in the dorm was 206,  while Davila's was 209. The plan was to let the dorm manager check Viktoria's room first (let her know that room 206 is complete and ready to sleep), wait and let the manager enter room 207, and while she was inside, let Viktoria run as fast as she can to room 209. Viktoria's roommate didn't really pay any mind as she's used to room-hopping. Now at this time, since her height was around the same as Sue's, she could fit the missing girl's onesies. When the time came that the dorm manager checks their rooms, Viktoria lay front-down and pretended to be in deep sleep, that way the dorm manager have no right to wake up a sleeping scholar (Besides, Sue has a great reputation anyway, so suspicions would that easily arise). Also, they both emphasized that Viktoria can't sleep because her body won't shut down in another person's bed.

"It took me a month to adjust to my dormitory bed just to sleep well." Viktoria yawned. "I am one hell of a picky sleeper and my melatonin pills just don't make the cut."

"So, uh..." said Ezekiel. "Now that we're all here..." he cleared his throat, "What now, upperclassman Zed?"

I took out the parcel and placed it on the table. "Drop the formalities." I took another file from my bag, opened it, and showed it to the people in front of me. "Your club is accredited as of the last hour." they all showed their awe, "I made sure of that. The faculty adviser is Miss Hashbrown, and the founding president is you, Ezekiel Soprano." I handed them the document.

Ezekiel received their accreditation and his awe slowly transitioned into a smile that reached from ear to ear. "Thank you so much for this." she stood up attentively in response. "Though, it would have been better if Sue was here to see these with us."

"Look, we need to investigate more about the anomalies in this school if we want to retrieve your friend.", I told them with dignity in your arms. "All of you!", I yelled softly, "As of now, we have no idea how or even what has consumed Sue. But believe, we can study the strange incidents starting with these." I poured the folders unto the gathering long table.

"Are those...?" said Ero.

"Cases.", I replied. "All of them are cases."
