"So, when you gon' take me out to lunch?" Gabrielle asked, standing over Anthony's desk.
"Not hungry," Anthony said, not even looking up from his computer at Gabrielle.
Gabrielle sucked her teeth. "I'm not talking about today. I know you had lunch with my bestie earlier today. But there's always dinner, and it is just about dinner time." Gabrielle leaned down over Anthony's shoulder. "Or we could just skip dinner and get right down to dessert."
Anthony shivered at Gabrielle's hot breath burning down his neck. He jerked away from her and whipped around to face her. "Do you mind getting out of my space?"
"Oh, he's feisty one." Gabrielle backed up, raising her hands in defense. "I like that in a man. A Lion." She let out a little roaring sound. "What are you, a Leo? Mm-hmm. And I bet you like to get wild."
"You can't be serious right now. To think that it's okay to just hound a man like this. I mean, does that actually get you dates?" Anthony didn't wait for Gabrielle to answer. "No, it couldn't possibly." He shook his head. "Because I've never seen you with a man. Nope, not once. Never seen you take anyone out to lunch."
She leaned down and rubbed Anthony's chin with her index finger. "But you, I would. You are a handsome, sexy, intellectually stimulating gentleman."
Anthony pulled his face away. "Well, like I said, I'm not hungry. I got plenty full with Keira today." Anthony purposely said that last comment with a hint of seduction. Maybe if Gabrielle thought he was trying to get with her best friend, she'd lay off, although knowing Gabrielle, she'd want to have a threesome. If that didn't work, she'd settle to simply watch.
"Oh, so you after my bestie? I tried to tell her." Gabrielle smiled knowingly.
Anthony wasn't smiling. He was horrified. "You tried to tell her what?" He stood up abruptly from his desk.
"Oh, and I see the lion has claws as well." Gabrielle pretended her hands were a lioness paws and teasingly clawed at Anthony.
He shook his head, getting more aggravated by the moment with this character before him. "You know what? Just forget it. I don't even know why I entertain you." He sat back down in his chair just as Keira's door opened.
"Speaking of the devil," Gabrielle said, glancing from Keira then to Anthony, giving him a devilish look. "We were just talking about you, Dr. Davis. Weren't we, Mister Anthony?"
Anthony sucked his teeth, let out an "Ugh," and then turned his attention back to his computer.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Anthony was more annoyed by Gabrielle. Keira figured Gabrielle had been out there doing her flirting thing. She'd told Anthony she would talk to Gabrielle about that, which she hadn't yet. There was no better time than the present, she decided.
"Can I talk to you in your office for a second?" Keira asked Gabrielle.
"Sure. What's up?" Gabrielle asked nervously. As of late, any talk with Keira hadn't been about anything good.
"We'll talk in your office," Keira said, putting her arm around Gabrielle's shoulder and escorting her into her own office.
Keira closed the door behind them. "So, what's up with Anthony?" she asked. "He seemed a bit bothered."
Gabrielle sat on the edge of her desk. "Oh, that. He's just tripping." She waved her hand, downplaying it. "You know how them men be trying to act. I was just complimenting him, and he got all uptight."
"Then maybe you shouldn't compliment him anymore," Keira said sternly.
Gabrielle pulled her upper body back and glared at her best friend. "Wait a minute. So now that you and Alonzo are no longer an item, you gon' try to...You want to get with-Ohhhh, I see." She shot Keira a mischievous look and began to nod. She stood up and held her hands up. "Okay, sista. You don't have to tell me twice. Hey, I'll back off if you want to get with ol'boy."
