I woke up to my alarm clock. it's 6:15, we went to sleep around 2 AM, I am so tired and definitely hungover. the house was silent except for the snow falling against the windows of my room. I pulled back the curtain to see a white canvas seemingly untouched. I lit a cigarette near the window and gave myself a moment to wake up a little before finding my way to the bathroom. I put my hair up, put a thong on, and changed from a t-shirt to a crew neck before heading downstairs. it was part of my routine to get up before everyone to make coffee. I am used to Edd waiting last minute to leave for school. what I am not used to is Edd being on the couch. something I completely forgot about, and here I am at the bottom of the stairs with my ass almost completely out. I did not plan on this in the slightest, in fact, this would be considered a bad dream for me. I walked past the couches and into the kitchen. a small groan could be heard from Edd as I passed by.
The kitchen was partially illuminated by the little light seeping through the window blinds. enough to where I did not have to turn the light on. got what I needed for the coffee maker and turned it on. after making my cup, I figured it would be of interest to make Edd one too. after mixing mine and placing Edds mug under the drip, I could hear creaking coming from the living room. Shortly after, light footsteps began to sound approaching the kitchen.
"Good morning Mrs. Taylor," said Edd softly while rubbing his eyes. while dragging his feet across the wood floor.
"Good morning sleepy Edd, how did you sleep?" I responded while pouring the hot water into the drip.
"It took a while after everyone went upstairs, but I'm glad I stayed. he responded walking over to the sink behind me to fill a glass of water.
"I'm glad you stayed too, why did it take you so long to drift off, you usually fall asleep right away," I asked with my back facing him still. I could feel him looking but surprisingly I didn't mind in the slightest.
"it gets lonely down here, especially when everyone's asleep" He responded before taking a sip of water.
I placed the pot of hot water back onto the stove and then held the mug while the drip slowed.
"I wonder what could change that". I said leaving the conversation vulnerable, leaving room for whatever he places in the response.
after a short pause, I felt two hands wrap around my stomach before getting pulled in.
"you" Edd responded softly.
He was holding me from behind while I tended to the coffee.
No one could see the smile on my face, or how my insides were turning, but I simply couldn't explain how warm this felt.
I stood still as he held me for a few more moments. I slowly turned around and wrapped my arms over his head. one of his hands on my back, the other on my bare hip.
"you are a dream Miss Taylor", he said before kissing my forehead.
we held one another for a few more moments before making eye contact for the first time this morning.
"Do something about it" I said softly.
Edd kept his small grin before a long sigh,
"I am still figuring out how too" he responded hesitantly.
"you sound scared" I responded playfully while doing my best not to look away until he does.
"Scared? not at all, worried? maybe" he replied with a small smile. His fingers gently moved back and forth across my lower back.
